- Honey would be proud of me….
Well, we made it. We hiked 30 km in the pitch dark (and rain in the last hour!!), on Halloween, to raise money for the Soi Dog Foundation. I said I dedicated our efforts to Honey and Meg, and I think they would have been so proud of us. We made it in 5 hours and 22 minutes! Pretty good timing (it is quite hilly terrain, in the forest of Dean). We didn’t meet any ghosts, but we did see some deer and owls.
So, thank you to all of you who supported us by donating to Soi Dog. It is such a worthy cause – the utterly disgusting dog meat trade has to be stopped! Every time I thought, “oof, this hill is a killer”, I thought about those poor, poor dogs in Thailand and told my muscles to stop whingeing!
We are so grateful for donations (we have raised almost $1000) – but please publicise the Soi Dog cause.
Losing Meg and Honey hurt us SOOOO much, and we are still grieving. But they, at least, had some happy times and knew they were loved. That matters so much.
love,
Lynda, Dora and Shona (Consuelo didn’t do the hike: she was dog-sitting!!)

Hi Lynda
You have truly made the world a better place – what a huge achievement. Honey & Meg were behind you & in front of you all the way. It breaks my heart to think some dogs never see any kindness or compassion in their short & tragic lives – thank you for caring & thank you for doing something wonderful on their behalf.
Loads of love Sheena, Worzel & Ollie xxxxx
Hi Lynda,
That is a wonderful thing you did. I had never even known a dog trade like that existed. Keep us posted if you do any more fundraising. I am slowly recovering from my financial setbacks this summer and I would like to donate. I can see how much Honey meant to you.
Love
Maura
Awe – so nice to read. Yes, absolutely, Honey and Meg were and are with you – wagging their tails and smiling. Of course, they are.
This is such a worthy cause. Hopefully, the attention will help, along with the donations. I still see all the photos in my head. Thank you Lynda for your stamina, hands on promotion and diligence. And Consuelo, having a loyal, loving human to watch our fur children is heart warming. When my dear friends watch Sadie, I am ever so grateful. So, thank you for that too!
Love and hugs, Linda and doing pretty dog-gone-good, Sadie ;)
Hi everyone – many thanks for the messages of support – not to mention the donations! And glad to hear Sadie is doing well, Linda!
Yes, Maura – and the trade is horrendous. The pictures are stomach-turning (I saw some more on Facebook this morning, and really, really, really wished I hadn’t opened the link). The donations page is staying open for another month, if you do feel able to support us financially!
Once again, thanks to all of you – not only for supporting us in our efforts for this amazing cause, but also for being there for us when we were breaking apart during Honey’s crisis. You are all incredible people (and dogs and cats, of course!)
lots of love,
Lynda
I know Honey would be proud, and Meg too. Thank you, Lynda, for doing this and for being a force for good for dogs and for this world.

Well done you! And the pups? Did they hike too? What an amazing thing to do in honour of Honey and Meg. I know you did them proud, and I think we are all pretty proud of you too! Please do let me know how I can donate, and I will do my best to add a little into the total.
Much love to you, Consuelo, Dora and Shona.
