Hi Mary,
I’d love to see a photo of your Molly IF you feel like posting it. Mable too. You can use the Upload Your Photo on the right if you do want to. No pressure though – I know at Bingo’s worst, I had to take all his photos off my computer screensaver at work – I was a mess and would start crying every time his photos would come up.
Yes and welcome to the Crazy paranoid club (Brigitte, we have to change the name – Crazy paranoid dog women no longer covers it!).
Love Vally & Bingo
Hi Mary-Jane
I’m so very sorry that you’ve lost your Molly. It’s such a horrible disease in that it hits so suddenly and aggressively and unfortunately so very often the disease wins the battle.
I think you’re just absolutely fabulous to come here and offer to support others.
My very best
Vally (& Bingo)
Linda, Bingo tried Cartrophan (which I think is the same) before further lameness and testing confirmed his is rheumatoid arthritis, at which stage the specialist said not to bother to continue with it. It was the specialist who originally recommended I try it as he said it had good results with most dogs.
Bingo had a course of 4 injections over 4 weeks and the plan was to have one done each month after that. They weren’t expensive – I think I paid about $30 for the injection and wasn’t charged by the vet – I was expecting to have to pay for a consultation the first time I went but no.
The only reaction he seemed to have to it was he was quieter the next day, which is listed as a side effect. It does apparently have a good safety record. I checked all that before I decided to give it a go.
Lady at work tried it for her dog, but she said it didn’t work. I would give it a shot (or 4).

Hi all my crazy paranoid dog people.
No incidents since Monday (way too early) morning. I think the heat could possibly be a factor. The nights are hot enough to be unpleasant and I think he really feels the heat.
Thinking of taking a squirt bottle to bed with me and squirting him during the night – won’t he love that. I’ll get some payback anyway.
Had some friends over last night – church meeting – I warned them my place isn’t the best place for a meeting as Bingo mucks up and starts barking around 9.00 for food and goes on until bed. Its all right they said. Don’t worry about it. They were warned.
Come about 9pm (probably 5 minutes earlier as his clock runs fast), he starts. To shut him up I give him his supper. Well that just encourages him. I had to keep some kibble beside me the whole time (about 2 hours) and give it to him every now and then. Whenever I got too slow though, he’d start off again. He is so rude!!! Of course he ate too much and at 4am he needs to go out and do a poo.
I suspect I’ll never sleep properly again – that squirt bottle idea appeals. Mwaaaaaah.
Love Vally & flea bitten.
