Ha ha Brigitte, you crack me up that you just found it! I actually had this in mind almost as soon as I put up the website. In fact, when I was in grammar school I remember I had a deep fascination with glossaries and would study them in detail.
I found this great company that provides the Tool Tip glossary. Dave gives us great customer service and has helped me solve a few problems already. I am also very proud to say that CM Plugins Tool Tip has a link to our website, this was our first link:
http://tooltip.cminds.com/sample/
If you look to your right when you are in the main forum page you will see 5 selected Tool Tip glossary items that rotate every time you refresh the page (not when you are in the topic page.) The Tool Tip doesn’t work “inside” the forum posts, unfortunately, and that has nothing to do with Tool Tip but rather bbPress would have to write some code to make it work. Another thing on my list. But you can refer people posting in the forum to glossary items.
There are other goodies in the Tool Tip I haven’t explored yet, such as Google Translate API and Merriam-Webster Dictionary and Merriam-Webster Thesaurus. Stuff to play with in the future.
This really takes the load off of us when we are writing to dog owners, we don’t need to write out long explanations of terms, we can just post a link. When you hover over a highlighted word you get a shortened version of the term (about 350 characters.) Clicking on the “term details” will take you to the full explanation.
This week Dave is working on setting up the glossary page so we can have those shorted versions of each term on the glossary page. I think it will make it easier to browse the whole glossary.

Mary,
This is nothing you have done! This is an idiosyncrasy that occurs once in a while. The bbPress forum moderators know about it, but have been unable to accurately reproduce it when they try to troubleshoot it. I can fix the order by hand when I need to, if it really messes up the flow of the thread.

Here is a good resource for Dr. Dodds’ information on vaccinations, not necessarily how they impact IMHA.
But, as always, I refer you to read this extensive paper Jean has written, here you will find some of the puzzle pieces about the interaction of vaccines and the immune system:
The Canine Immune System and Disease Resistance

Dear Mary Jane
I am so glad you have come to this website. I am, however, sad about the reason you are with us. I will think about Molly today.
You and I are a pair in some ways. My dog Chance had the same condition as Molly and it was a very difficult treatment. There was a time after we had been treating him for quite a while that I thought we would need to compassionately euthanize him. I was able, with Dr. Dodds help, to help him recover. But it took significant effort and my medical knowledge to accomplish it.
Mary Jane, I have come across information, when I was studying, about these hematology diseases in cats. I have read enough to know that the presentation is a bit different in cats, such that at the time, I didn’t want to get sidetracked. But now, as we start this site, I want to see if we can also serve owners with cats as well. I don’t think there are many resources for them. I have a veterinary textbook and probably can find information that we need when it is necessary.
If you would agree, I would like you to be a part of our team and be our lead person for helping other cat owners. Sometimes the most important thing that owners need to hear is “I know the pain you are feeling and you belong here.”

Sadie’s story is of great importance. In some dogs, but not every dog, rapid reduction of prednisone can lead to a relapse. It is important for new owners coming here looking for help to read this and understand how carefully the medications must be administered.
I think the traditional treatment of giving pets prednisone (for whatever reason) and then automatically following up with a fast reduction are being rethought. Trying to find vets that have caught up with this trend can be difficult.
Sadie’s breed, Cocker Spaniel, is on the short list of breeds that are more genetically prone to this condition. Trying to explain that to a frantic owner is very difficult. How do you teach a short course in genetics? What we can do is help these owners approach treatment more carefully and avoid not measuring their dog’s progress against other dogs.
Having Linda as a resource for these owners is extremely valuable.

I see that Amazon has Simple Solution Belly Bands, washable, for about $10. They come in different sizes. I wouldn’t hesitate to use this for short periods of time and rotate a clean one while you wash the dirty one.
I understand how important it is to not have accidents in the house. Your dog doesn’t like it and you have to clean it up. Both of you end up feeling cranky.
