Oh Sheena
I have just logged on to read this tragic news. I am so, so sorry. I know there are no words that can heal the pain, but I do hope you can take some small comfort in knowing what wonderful, dedicated people you and Phil are, and how very lucky Ollie and Worzel are to have you for parents.
All my love to you, Sheena.

Karyn – you had no choice but to try the leflunomide as your vet thought it might work. The side effects are truly shocking when you read them. Don’t feel bad about anything though. I swear I would have tried anything to save Worzel too. Hindsight is not always a wonderful thing – it sometimes means we over-think & end up blaming ourselves for something that is not our fault in any way. That’s because we love our dogs so very much. Love hurts.
Louis is always in your heart & he will live on in there forever.

Hi everyone
I am posting on behalf of Karyn who has just phoned me.
I am so very sorry to have to tell you that Louis didn’t make it. He has passed away. Karyn will post when she feels she is able to.
My lovely Karyn & John, I am devastated & sad Louis could not fight any more. No one could have done more than you two have & you gave him a wonderful life where he was loved beyond expectations. Rescuing him & Olga from bad situations tells me you both have big hearts. I know they are broken hearts today. My tears are falling as I write. I can only send you my deep & heartfelt sympathy, dear friends.
Much love & I wish I could reach out & hug you
Sheena
Hi Lauren
Just a quick message to say I hope Ernie is doing better today. As Vally says, it’s horrible having to leave them at the vets, but he is getting the best attention there from what you’ve said. Thinking about you & hoping now the bleeding is under control, he holds steady on the PCV front. Keep us posted when you get a second.
Big hugs from us all

Update from Karyn:
“Hi, Louis isn’t coping well with the latest blood transfusion, it seems the more transfusions they have the less effective they are.
Louis is normally lively after a transfusion but this time he’s become a little bit incontinent, he’s gone off his food, and is sleeping all the time.
We are waiting to hear from our Vet as to weather they can actually source Liposomal Clodronate, and if they can he still needs approval from the practice to actually use it because it’s still only in the research phase, plus as far as we know it’s never been used/tired on a dog with no spleen.
I’ve tried to get it myself but because I’m not a registered vet they wont sell it, plus it has to be administered by injection and he needs to be monitored, yet another obstetrical.
It just seems to be one thing after another, because of this reaction to the transfusion we are pretty sure he won’t be offered another one. So at the moment we are waiting for other people to make a decision about Louis, and time is not on our side.
I’ll update again when I have news.
Love Karyn”
