Hello Marla!!!! So good to see this! Dewey is doing great – you’re doing an awesome job with him!
Did you get my e-mail. I still have not gone by Verizon to find out why I’m being charged for texting to Canada because I’m still not leaving Sadie for more than an hour and Verizon takes their sweet time on customer service, but will hopefully this week. Please, please though, e-mail me AND post Dewey’s continued progress here on the forum.
Love you lady! Linda and Sadie (still hanging in!)
Oooh lovely PCV – that’s excellent news! You can carry on with the slow & steady reduction for sure – slowly, slowly, no relapsy! Most of us do see a small drop during the first few days of a reduction, but it soon goes up again, so good news all round for you. This is wonderful, Trish – well done Mr Max!

Hi Trish
Glad Mum-in-Law is doing fine – everything seems to happen at once, doesn’t it? I really hope she’ll be back to her normal self very soon.
You are right to be extra-vigilant as our babies immune systems are not able to cope with day-to-day illnesses that would not a be problem to an “ordinary” dog. I think that’s the point – our babies will never be ordinary again because of this awful disease.

Hi Wendy
Just read your update on your fundraising site – it sounds like Frank might have a staph infection – that is very common with our pups on these medications. A trip to the vet is needed so they can have a look at it, find out what it is & they can give you antibiotics to treat it if necessary. Here is the link to staph infection with photos & how to treat it:

You can also get some chlorhexadine shampoo from the vets – it’s vital to keep everything really clean & to wash his bedding on a very hot wash to destroy any bacteria that might be hiding in there. Don’t delay getting treatment – it can spread quickly. Lots of folks on here have had to deal with this, so don’t worry – it’s easily treated.

Hi Trish
I also found Worzel did improve quite quickly – 20mg is still reasonably high – I would say Worzel improved considerably when we got down to 10mg per day (he normally weighs about 23 kilos – but he was only 17/18 kilos when ill). He ate like a little piggy (or as they say in France, like an ogre!) for a long time. He can still eat like a little ogre now & is inclined to put weight on even now. Hope this helps!
Love & hugs to you & lovely Max

Photos needed please! Worzel thinks teal would suit her, Ollie prefers pink. A dry night is cheery news – let’s hope she’s on the mend now. Maybe a few days of antibiotics has already helped – & that pred reduction will make a difference very soon too.
Love as always

She really does look beautiful – & not a grey hair! The plan is good, Linda, & she will soon be less wobbly with the pred reduction. It’s just heartbreaking to see them like this & you have to keep remembering it will get better & better the lower the pred dose is. I really feel for you, dear friend.
I have started Worzel on Traumeel (T-relief) on the recommendation of our wonderful Dr Dodds. He has been stiff, creaky & sore a the back end. As we can’t use the usual drugs for our pups, I have to try an alternative which is safe & will relieve the pain. I will keep you posted on how he’s getting on. I might be speaking too soon (as Vally says, I am whispering this!) but he is much more active & happy after only a few days on it. Keep you fingers crossed – this could be a good idea for Sadie & Bingo.
The boys are still madly in love with Miss Sadie – they both said how great she looks – did I detect a whiff of lavender from that photo?
Love & huge hugs from all of us as always
