- Tempe’s latest CBC
Specialist called me back and his recommendation was that if Tempe is not exhibiting any signs of illness, I should wait one or two weeks and then run the CBC again to see if the WBC has increased or gone down. He said that the body sometimes over compensates making blood and it can show high WBC numbers even if there is no infection. I’m keeping my fingers crossed too! Thank you everyone.
Hi Rosemary
Glad to hear the great news on the PCV – wonderful! Hoping her WBC will have dropped on the next test. These things are sent to try us – in the early stages, Worzel always had something out of range on his blood test, just to worry me even more! Keep us posted – crossing everything for you
Sheena & Worzel
Awe – way to go Tempe on the PCV!! Hope the WBC count is down next CBC. I’m with “Millie” – and I’m sure the rest of us – there just has to be something to worry us. Hang in there Tempe and Rosemary – you are BOTH doing a fantastic job!

hi rosemary,
the white blood count was off on Hayley in the first 3 weeks or so in treatment and her platelets were a little high.I think most fur children test are off until they get really stable or off or lower doses. I am so glad to see tempe’s number’s going up… that is alway’s a great thing . I alway’s did the happy dance .. not easy at my age…ha! Hayley was very slow to get to good number’s and when hit she was at 8% the day of transfusion we saw many get better while Hayley was at 27% and was on vet net for a while she was slow and steady.. with many up’s and down’s. at ne time she could even get up let alone walk. Hayley was 7.5 years old when this disease was triggered by her yearly shots now Hayley is 9 years old and this past july marked her 1 year of med free.hayleys weight normal is 2 lbs she went from 2lbs to 1 lb. then had much swelling it went to 3lbs Hayley is a small Chihuahua. I hope this gives you much hope that any size can fight and there are many ups and downs to face. this is a awful disease our sweet babies have to face, many get to a stable point fast some as my Hayley take a slow time getting there as Hayley. some will have to remain on low dose for life w/ their meds some can go off…. each fur child how their little bodies work are so different. tempe is so lucky to have you and you are doing a wonderful job in caring for tempe. it is 24/7 home nursing and lots of TLC . we all had to learn when we could take a nap here and there while holding our fur baby… but for Hayley she wanted to lay on the wood flooring rather than me hold her the predisone made her pant a lot and she wanted where ever it was cool for her and she would drink lots of water . because Hayley couldn’t get up she would look at where she wanted to be and i would move her to the spot.my very best. lynn & hayley
