- Split: Split: For Hope and Steve
Hope, just make sure the sucralfate is given two hours after and two hours before any other med – otherwise it will interfere with absorption. I pushed it at times to 1:45 on both sides but wouldn’t want to push it much more. There were people on the fb page who tried an hour each way but the sucralfate interfered with the meds.
Hey Tamara!
Yea I’ve been plotting this all day lol — I was thinking of 2:45am! 2.75 hours post aspirin and 2.25 hours before pred! He hasn’t been flipping out for his random night snacks since this last reduction so I think that’ll work! Usually he wakes me up to randomly feed him but that should do it and I won’t get the sad puppy face.
Hugs to y’all! Hope and Steve
Don’t worry about the night snack so much, it’s the meds that are more important to watch with the sucralfate.
Love Vally & Bingo
Hey there Vally!
I found the directions that came with the sucralfate when it was originally prescribed — Steve’s normal vet had said every 8 hours. Is that correct?
Thanks! Hope
Hey guys!
Do/did any of the meds cause your pups to be super gassy? Steve’s been blowing me out the bed the last few days with the farts lol.. It started right around the vomiting on Thursday actually.
Thanks y’all!
Hope, Bingo started out taking the sulcralfate 3 times a day, then twice a day then once a day before it was dropped. I think it was based on where we were at with the pred dosage.
Im not sure I ever really worked out what gives Bingo wind. He’s actually not bad and doesn’t have too much trouble with his tummy. The cyclosporine seems to give him loose poos more than other stuff. Cat poo especially can put him off. He says thats not true and cat poo is very nutritious. We agree to disagree on that one.
Love Vally and Bingo.
Hey Vally!
Lol about the Cat poop! Luckily Steve is too prissy for such things — Jeffrey is a different story and will eat his own poo if I would let him.
Steve is at the vet for a scheduled appt. They decided to keep him and do an ultrasound, CBC and PCV since he vomited again this weekend. I don’t know if that’s to placate me lol since I clearly have the look of someone who has come unhinged or if they think something could actually be wrong. The vet said they want to make sure the MMF isn’t starting to get to him.
I asked the vet to do the blood draw for dr dodds and (as I expected) he was not thrilled about it. I feel bad bc he really is awesome and from what I’ve heard in the (people) medical community he’s the best of the best. I think he thinks I’m going over his head. I’m really not trying to but he tried to explain to me that the results wouldn’t be right anyway bc of the Pred. And I tried to explain that’s why I want it sent to her, because she takes that into consideration along with his breed, etc.
He said we can go ahead and discontinue the lovenox after this batch..exact words were “it’s been a month so…” Lol! I thNk he’s trying to get Steve off of it bc it’s so expensive but I am willing to pay anything that’s nexessary obviously. What do we need to see in the Bloodwork to indicate it’s okay to stop it?
Thanks so much! Hugs to you and the fur babies!
