Hi Jill
I’m so pleased to read your update on Snoopy. What lovely news for you to hear. Maybe some of the medication is starting to take effect – fingers crossed. It’s great that he seems a bit better in himself.
I also had a look at your results but couldn’t see them I’m afraid, as they are too blurry when zoomed in. It would be great if you are able to get a picture close up.
Give Snoopy a cuddle from us.

Hiya Jill
I’ve just e-mailed you privately – please could you let me know you got it OK as soon as possible. You are welcome to send me all the results if you find it easier & I’ll pass them on to the moderators.
I am out this evening, but will check as soon as I get home.
There are various anti-clotting medications including aspirin (ultra low dose is used), clopidogrel, plavix, or even heparin by injection. Vets have their own preferences according to blood test results. Some of these drugs are anti-platelet. Here is something you can print & show your vet:

Cornell University study preferred ultra low dose aspirin or heparin:

The Dr Weinkle that did this study was my specialist’s close friend at University.
Dr Dodds consultation form that you fill in yourself & pay there & then a one-off fee:

Hi Jill & Tim
Thank you so much for the results. Unfortunately, the blood test results are very basic & there are no details at all of use to us really – it only shows red blood cell counts are low (anaemia) & white blood cell count is high, but there is no breakdown to tell us which kind of white cell is high. For example, if neutrophils are high, this indicates infection – but I cannot tell, sorry, as there are no figures. We need to see a lot more details than this to be able to help. Do you have anything else at all? There is no blood smear result either – this is vital for us to be able to see many things, including if anti-clotting medication is needed. A blood smear should always be done in cases of IMHA. A haematological pathologist should be looking at the results – this can give us massive clues as to what is going on. We also need to see reticulocyte figures if possible – that would tell us if Snoopy is producing enough red cells for his condition.
All the top values on the test are zero, which I assume means they haven’t analysed them. Is this a local vet? Sometimes we need specialist help or at least to find a vet who is willing to look into this more deeply. I am heartbroken that we cannot be of more help, but without the right information, it is impossible. But I am NOT giving up though, I promise – please could you press your vet to give you more details if you can. Get everything else they have & send it to us. At the very least, please get them to look at a blood smear under the microscope. If they have no more results, they are not doing what they should be doing & I’m sorry to say you may need to change vets. Lots of people on the site have had to do this, so don’t feel it’s unusual. It isn’t.
Can I be really upfront – are you confident your vet has treated many cases of this disease before? Or even any? It is rare in the UK, even more so than other countries, partly because tick diseases are not yet rife. My Specialist in Bordeaux has only ever seen 4 cases in his entire career after his internship – he is NOT a local vet obviously, so that demonstrates just how rare it is. And we have loads of tick borne diseases here. I contacted my old vet in Oxfordshire who I trust implicitly – she had never seen a case, ever, & said if she did, she would be contacting a specialist or OUR TEAM for help. Nice compliment for us.
I know this is overwhelming – it’s really awful & I hope you will presevere & get the help you need. Hoping that Snoopy is doing OK in the meantime.
So sorry to disappoint you. Please have a look at the blood test sites I sent you & have a chat with your vet – you will see what needs to be analysed. I can send you some of Worzel’s tests if you like – they are in French, but show what we need to see – I can gladly translate them of course!
Love
