Hi everyone just an update on Snoopy, sorry its been so long but ive been ill myself. ,Snoopy is doing really well nearly back to his old self! he still has milk thistle and 1 x Tylan a day, but no other drugs! His last pcv test came back that he had high liver enzyms?( think it was a side effect of the steroids)which is why he still is on the milk thistle , he had another pcv which showed they had deceased but not normal as yet , we have another appt next week , so im hoping they will be back to the normal range again. It so great to have him back like to his old self again , there were times when I thought this was never going to happen, many thanks to all Sheenas help throught out Snoopys illness, and to you all ,cant thank you enough for all your help , love and huge hugs Jill & Snoopy xxxxxx
Hi
My 6.5 female Bernese Mountain Dog was just diagnosed with IMHA. This has been going on for 6 weeks of testing and they finally agreed to give her prednisone. It’s only been a few days but I feel like she needs something else. She just started having bad diarrhea as well.
They want her on prednisone for a week then recheck her bloodwork. Is this normal?

Hi Kelly, I’m sorry to hear about your girl. How is she going?
It really depends on what has triggered the IMHA.
In most cases, yes, prednisone is not enough and a second drug is needed.
If you feel your girl is getting worse, I would go back to the vets earlier to have her blood test done.
The stomach problems could be caused by the prednisone as it’s very harsh on the stomach and we usually recommend that stomach protection be given.
Let us know how you are going.
Regards, Vally
