Jill, that’s great news on the test.
I always noticed Bingo definitely felt each prednisone reduction. Seemed to take a few days and then he’d be better.

Ditto, Vally. The first few days, Worzel was a bit iffy too.
Did I mention we call these marks Worzel’s naughty spots? After that horrible place “on death’s door”, naughty is a lovely place! And yes, he can be a complete pain in the proverbial, but it’s secretly funny – little monkey.
It is true we are a bit mad on here, but in a nice way!
Sheen, very naughty sometimes Worzel & never naughty Ollie xxxx
Hi everyone, paranoid mum here, Snoopy has has had an upset tum, direh quite bad like water yesterday evening, he had managed to get hold of some cat poo after our morning walk and eat it before I could stop him in our back garden! I was cross with him he was so quick! well im not sure if it was that or if he could have picked up a bug as he is still on the Azthioprine? ive been up with him this morning since 6 as his stomache has been making some really loud gurgleing noises , so took him for a small walk, but no direah, when we got back these tummy noises carried quite a while till about 730, he wont eat anything and dosent want me touching him . im a bit worried I will give him another Tylan this morning and see how he goes, might be another trip to the vets, does anyone elses dogs eat cat poo? thanks jill xxxxx
Oh Bingo says cat poo is the best and very nutritious – much better than what I give him.
Are you doing a course of Tylan? 7-10 days? You could also add some slippery elm to his food. I use it whenever Bingo’s tummy seems off. I add a smidgen to his last feed at night.

Hi Valley , yes thanks, Snoopy is back on the Tylan, what a great drug that is seems to work quickly, im so pleased Sheena told me about it.Snoops is on that and I also give him fort flora, would he need the slippery elm to? I don’t know why but he has always had a nose for the cat poo seems to be able to find it when we are out to! but then he has his muzzle on and im constantly on the look out! His old tum seems to be more settled this morning no more direah at mo, and his tummy noises seem to have gone fingers crossed! they were a bit worrying went on for an hour and half, really loud like constant churning? hope Bingo is doing well , love and hugs to all Jill and Snoopy xxx
Jill, I tend to use a little slippery elm each night, and I also use a probiotic with his dinner. The amount of slippery elm is truly maybe just a pinch in a few drops of water added to his bedtime supper. If Snoopy is fine now with the Tylan, it probably wouldn’t make much difference either way.
Just something else to keep up your sleeve if you notice a bit of diarrhea, say for a day or 2 at most. More than that I would have it checked or start the Tylan.
Love Vally & Bingo.

Hi Jill
If Snoopy gets a bit loose again, it might well be the slippery elm – it does make Worzel loose sometimes, not always, though. Also the milk thistle – drop that until he’s back to normal.
You can also use 100% pure pumpkin from a tin (Tescos I think sell it) – make sure there is NOTHING added of course! Also sweet potato, organic rice & turkey would be a nice bland diet until he settles down again. Then re-introduce his usual food gradually. I always have a supply of pumpkin/sweet potato in ice trays in the freezer, just in case, & it always makes a big difference, even if it does make their poop a bit orange, at least it’s firmer!
Stick with 2 Tylan a day for a couple of weeks at least if he’s bad. If he’s got something nasty, he may need a full course again, then reduce to one a day:

Hi everyone – Sheena here
Updating you all for Jill.
We have been on the phone a lot the past couple of days as Snoopy has been very poorly after eating that cat poo.
Saturday night Snoopy started having bad diarrhoea, so Jill took him to the vets yesterday morning for a CBC & a pancreatitis test (cPL) as he is on azathioprine. The pancreatitis test was negative, which is good news. He has now been given metronidazole.
Yesterday, he was also sick & still bad diarrhoea, so Jill sent me some pictures. The diarrhoea is orange & there are slight (I mean very slight) flecks of blood in his vomit, so I suggested she phoned the emergency vet – they will see Snoopy again today. I have suggested a test for bilirubin (pee test etc) in case that is the orange, and also suggested looking at poo for Giardia as Worzel’s poo was orange when he had that – a guess from me really. He obviously has picked up something nasty & is feeling really miserable, poor baby. Jill has been very worried of course, but has done all the right things to get the vets & ask for tests – she is such a GREAT Mum.
Here’s hoping the metronidazole will help him get rid of whatever it is. I also suggested sucralfate, but have a horrible feeling you cannot get it in the UK, so Jill will ask them for something similar. He’s already on omeprazole to protect his tummy which is good. The vet gave him zantac instead, but he threw that up eac time, so maybe it doesn’t agree with him. We think it would be better to go back to the omeprazole because of that, but she will discuss this with the vets. We also discussed B12 injections as Snoopy has always had a sensitive GI tract. It certainly gave Worzel a big boost & he has B12 every 3 months now.
Snoopy’s PCV has dropped very slightly, but I suspect & hope it’s because he’s not well rather than anything else as it’s only a small drop – maybe a red herring – but they will check bloods etc. Let’s hope so because he’s been doing so brilliantly well up until now. We all know these small glitches are sent to try us & worry us!
Sending all my love & hugs – let us know how you get on today, Jill – good luck, dear friend
