Yes, Anna. As I was reading about what you went through with Jackie’s bath I could totally put myself in your place!! I would have been a wreck!
That’s a tough one too. What were you to do though? She was covered in vomit and it had to be dealt with. You poor thing. Us moms always get the blame, right!?
Ladies, Emily’s Pet Tinic has arrived. Should I wait until her vet returns my call and ask before I administer?
I just got off the phone with Emily’s vet and she was awesome! She definitely knows who Dr Dodds is :) she is having me stop the K, ordered the Sucralfate and said that she can have that along with Pepcid. She’s running updated blood work to check out liver and such before ordering the Sam E or other liver support. She knew of Pet Tinic and was thumbs-up on it. She just wants to go careful with the changing over of the Azathioprine to the Cyclosporine. She’s going to do a test to check on her pancreas. ..I think ;) she ended the call with saying, “good job”. Actually that compliment belongs to each of you ♡
Hi Susie & Emily
Excellent news – your vet sounds very nice & open to ideas – that really helps & it makes it much less stressful when you know you are in good hands. Actually, it’s YOU who needs to take credit here – you are doing a great job at getting the treatment right for Emily by telling your vet as much as you can.
I am relieved you are stopping the Vitamin K – is your vet checking for clotting risks too? I hope so – you know I worry about these things.
Milk thistle is very good for keeping liver enzymes under control during the treatment – these drugs are very hard on the liver, so that is something I would highly recommend. Denamarin contains milk thistle & the same stuff as Sam-E – that is what I would personally go for to cover both aspects. If you do get milk thistle separately, make sure it’s organic & the best quality you can find. The PetTinic is full of goodies needed by the body for making blood cells, so that is also important – I’m glad you’re using that too.
Please give Emily a cuddle from me & tell her she’s a clever girl. You are doing a tremendous job, Susie – Emily couldn’t have a better Mum.
Love & hugs

Just got back from the vets. They ran complete blood panel today so it will be an hour or two before I know anything. I totally forgot to ask for copies but then realized now I’ll ask for original blood results along with today’s. Sucralfate and Pepcid are now in Emily’s tummy!! Heading back up there to drop off baby sister’s urine sample. She’s had an ongoing UTI that won’t seem to clear And vomited in our bed this morning.(When it rains it pours !) On a positive note, Emily’s gums are starting to look almost pinkish!!
Suzie, what’s Emily’s sister’s name? Poor baby and poor you who has to do the clean-up.
Remember to keep the sucralfate away from the other drugs. Do you want to list them again. I’d be happy to run another chart out to you. Easy to do.
Congratulations on that pink colour. It’s the best colour there is.
Love Vally & Bingo (who wears pink with pride).
Hi Vally,
I just now hung up with the Vet. Emily is a 28!!! Her liver enzymes are high :( I can’t remember the number but they will be giving me everything tomorrow, all blood results from the initial diagnosis to today’s results. He’s going to put her on the Denamarin.
Emily’s sister is Sadie. Although my husband insists on calling her Sadie Sue. She’ll be two in June.
I would love for you to make me a new chart. Thank you, I really appreciate your kindness :) I will probably start the Denamarin tomorrow. There’s a chance they may change her to the Cyclosporine. The one vet is going to discuss it with the other.
With happy hearts! <3
