Hello Everyone!
I just wanted to check in and update you on Emily’s progress. She’s at 46 as of Saturday and as rowdy as ever. She’s doing so well that I often forget how sick she was, almost to the point of forgetting to give her meds until it hits me, or she reminds me its that time. No more alarms or charts to keep on track. I’ve had her meds on the counter for the last 7 1/2 months, because there were so many I had them all in a big clear bin. Just today I put all the current meds in a small glass bowl.
Her prednisone is down to just a 1/4 pill each morning!!! Cyclosporine is still 25 mg pm. I’m hoping to start weaning that down very soon as well.
I hope you and your “kids” are all well. Please forgive my long absence. My life has become crazy busy!
Love to all,
Susie and Emily ♡
Wow Susie!
Emily is a superstar & I’m so very happy for you. It’s wonderful to hear she’s back to her old rowdy self. Always lovely to hear from you – keep it going Miss Emily!
Love & hugs as always

Hello Ladies,
Emily is back up to 48, with a tp of 8.8. I’m waiting to hear back from the younger vet as to how to proceed with the next stage of weaning. The older vet has had a serious horse accident, and won’t be available to counsel. Poor thing.
Emily’s been at 1/4 tab of prednisone daily, 25 cyclo. daily. She’s been showing signs of Cushing’s for quite a while. I am asking you for your counsel because it’s always spot on. My own thought is to wean her to two days on, one day off. How do you all feel about that. I want to include that Emily’s seems to have gotten “thicker” in these last several weeks. Approximately 13.5 lbs up from around 11 lbs. Also, I’m wondering if I hold off on cyclo reduction until after she’s completely weaned off the pred?
Many thanks!
❤️Susie and Chubs
PS. I forgot to ask about Sucralfate reduction. Do you think she’s safe to take down to one daily dose of the Sucralfate?
Hi Susie …..and little miss chubster!
This is more great news – yes, I agree with you on the every other day – I personally think our babies do much better that way & that is what I did with Worzel. It is better to get her off the pred completely before reducing the cyclo – that is the conventional way & is safer too. I would continue with the sucralfate until the pred is stopped altogether – play it safe!
Don’t worry about that little bit of extra weight – it will soon disappear now she’s back to her playful sweet self. You have done everything possible to get her well & made sure her pred reduction has been done nice & slowly. You are the BEST Mum – I’m so happy to hear everything is going beautifully – thanks to YOU being so careful.
Hope your vet makes a good recovery very soon & will be back to look after Emily.
Love & hugs

Thank you Sheena! Just so that I’m clear, two days with and skip one day, and continue in that pattern, yes?
