- Rhodesian Ridgeback – Some Questions on Diagnosis of IMHA
Great great news and thanks for posting.
I always found that you notice a difference when you drop the prednisone. I’m sure the body needs time to adjust.
Good luck.

Just a quick update – i am still tapering the Prednisone and following your advice. My vet is supporting me! We moved from 30 mg to 25 mg to 20 mg and now on 15 mg. He has been doing so well we did it every two weeks. So this coming Wednesday i will taper to 10 mg once a day. I will do a blood panel on the day before I switch to 5 mg since the low doses actually scare me the most when I read other stories. His HCT a month ago were 42% and i haven’t done a count since because he has been so much more like his normal self. We are still doing short walks and a couple short playdates a week. He no longer looks like he is coming from a Concentration Camp but has got typical Prednisone dog look. He has also got a grey skin tag thing on his face. But i am so happy! Thank you. Lucy
Hi i just wanted to let you know that i am still grateful for your help and let you know that after months of reducing the prednisone going really slowly we have survived and can now run and walk and go snow shoeing and hike with our friends every day. We usually go about three or so miles in the winter but last fall we were hiking longer. People ask if he is a puppy but he is almost 8 now. So second chance he has taken and we are so grateful everyday. Although i still have no idea what caused the IMHA but his blood work was nearly normal in November.
