- New Rescue – Nauset
Hi Friends – thank you for asking.
This weekend, I had to put my fox terrier to sleep because she had violent seizures in the same day. At 17, there was no point but I still feel guilty as I do still about my Dunes.
Spirit was the family dog whereas Dunes was MY dog – I miss her more than words can tell.
Nauset seems to be doing better. Tomorrow is the vet appointment. She is terribly afraid of noises like popcorn popping or the mixer when making food. She has never once barked..
She is very sweet and is very needy. She does follow me almost as much as Dunes did.
The vet thinks she is older than 1 1/2 – 2 years. Possibly 3-4 years. Little white under the muzzle and not as peppy as a baby. Dunes was active even when sick.
I’ll let you all know about Nauset after the vet visit. You are my friends. Thanks. I am attached to Nauset.
Can’t believe my dogs are dead.
Joe
Very sad to hear about Spirit – it doesn’t matter how old they are, we still want to have them around (and well) for longer. You’ve had a really rough time, Joe. I’m sorry.
Nauset sounds like quite a nervous little soul – goodness knows what she’s been through before you took her in. I hope she gets on well at the vets & will make a great recovery – you were meant to be together.
Sending you loads of love from Sheena & the boys.
Joe, I’m so sorry to hear about Spirit. You have certainly been through the ringer.
No doubt Dunes is showing Spirit around.
You could possibly try Rescue Remedy for stressful times on Nauset. I used to use it on Bingo for vet visits. Don’t use it so much any more. He’s so used to going to the vets.
The very best of luck tomorrow.

joe,
I think you are the best!! what a blessing that nauset was sent to you. if you look at my last post I was telling you about one of my best friends dogs buddy who was adopted only to learn he had heartworms… he was treated with doxy(doxcycline) that was 3 years ago. guess what buddy is running and playing and doing quite well. in fact jean brought buddy over this weekend to check on me.he is a wonderful boy he is a border collie and shocking he is calm but loves to get things for you as long as he has a job to do he’s very happy but he will sit and be petted too!i just think the adopted ones are so happy to be loved that they are just so sweet and love their pet parent so.one thing jean told me that the border collie not all can take heartworm meds and have to be checked to see if they can even have their shots… I never knew or heard this about the border collie. not sure if she understood buddy’s vet, but that might be right, as I sure do not know.but I do know the vets at U.T. told her that they have very good results in treatment now with doxcy. you are the best… and, yes you will always miss sweet dunes she is part of your heart… and, will always be. i had a crying spell over macey two day’s ago and I do from time to time she too was part of my heart. thank heaven for our hearts because these wonderful speaical fur babies need pet parents as we are who love with all our heart .very best wishes for nauset and you. lynn & hayley
Thanks for letting us know about your pup, Spirit. What a cute name. I am so sorry about your loss.
No, there will not be another Dunes. And there shouldn’t be either. Dunes was your very special pup. And I’m sure (as Vally said) Dunes and Spirit are frolicking around and having a great time.
But too, I am so glad you found Nauset. She needs your love and admirable dedication. You literally have saved her life. And too, as Lynn said, being on the same med as her friend’s dog, bet she too will be running around getting into everything. It sounds like she hasn’t had much of a chance to be a happy puppy, scared. But she is in a safe, loving home now and she’ll come around, in both health and temperament. She is right where she is meant to be – with you.
I hope Nauset’s vet visit today went well. Please keep us posted.
Much love and huge hugs, Linda and Sadie
