- My 13 yr old just diagnosed
It has been a long 6 weeks and each and every one of you have helped so much in your kind words and suggestions and support!
I joined K9Kidneys the other day so I hope to have a diet plan in place to start then I’ll go from there.
I wish you all great success in beating this disease. Learning about it over the past weeks has given me the empathy to you all as I have felt the raw fear and the rollercoaster of worry that goes along with it.
I’ll stick around but I gotta tell you, I don’t have near the empathy, patience and compassion as you all have shown to me.
I’m deeply humbled…and blessed.
Love Terri and Koda
Terri, I’m so glad you’ve finally got a diagnosis. I think not knowing is always much much worse. You certainly do have those qualities. Your persistence in caring for Koda is the example of it.
Hope the next results are heaps better and of course you are ALWAYS welcome here.
Love Vally & Bingo
Hi Terri
I’m so pleased to know that Koda is feeling a bit better and that you finally have a diagnosis. Not knowing is so hard and now you can finally begin the correct treatment to get Koda better.
Please do stick around and let us know how he gets on. You are a wonderful mum to Koda and we would love to hear his updates!
All best wishes,
Mary and Mable x
Hi Terri
At last you know what is going on – glad you’ve joined K9Kidneys. It’s just a real shame that it took so long to get there & that has given you so much stress. It shows how important it is to find the right vet, which can be easier said than done! Don’t you dare leave us – we want to know how Koda is doing. We sometimes get dogs with kidney problems & IMHA, so you would be able to help if you have the time. I know you work really hard & don’t have a lot of time, but please don’t lose touch.
Love, Sheena & the boys
Hi Terri, I’m so happy you have a definitive diagnosis and can now provide targeted treatment. The k9kidneys list is amazing, and they will answer your questions and provide so much information. Also, the files section is treasure trove, with spreadsheets for working out a diet; a friend of mine, Kathy, created an amazing one that is up there.
Another very good resource for kidney disease is dogaware.com — the woman who writes it started researching diet and health when her dog was diagnosed with kidney disease and she is very thorough and very knowledgeable.
I too hope you stick around and keep us updated on that handsome boy of yours and let us know how you’re doing too.
big hugs,

Hi Terri. Just wanted to chime in too and say CONGRATULATIONS!!! You did not give up and your diligence and determination FINALLY has prevailed!!! Absolutely, the RIGHT vet makes all the difference. Yeah!!! Now you can work toward a well Koda. He is very lucky to have your love and care.
And agree – you are part of our family AND your journey can help others. PLEASE stick around and keep us posted with Koda’s plan and how things are going.
I also want to commend the forum team. This is definitely a star example of helping. Patrice, your e-mails and posts blew me away. I have learned so much. Thank you Patrice, thank you all
Love and huge way-to-go hugs! Linda and Sadie
