Hi Terri
I’m so pleased that you are going to keep fighting for Koda, and that you are going to see a specialist and try Patrice’s suggestions. It is so very difficult when you are working with a vet who has given up, but it sounds like you are taking the bull by the horns which is great. We are all different of course, but I know for me that I would need to know what is causing the anemia before I could make a decision about what to do. Personally, I’d be reluctant to reduce the pred at the moment with his HCT falling. What does your vet suggest about this?
I’m really sorry to hear about your cat and very glad you sought another opinion. Like all professions, there are some shoddy vets out there, and those who get it wrong, but there are also some wonderful ones and I am keeping everything cross that your specialist will be one of the latter and help you get to the bottom of Koda’s illness.
All best wishes

Regarding the pred dose: His HTC didn’t start falling until she had me increase it. Before the increase, his HTC was steadily rising.
My vet thinks… it doesn’t matter what I do…he’s dying of cancer. I asked about going back down to where he was….she just shrugged again…yea she’d rather have aomeone else take the wheel. I just need to keep him alive until he can be seen on the 12th.

Hi Terri. Just a note, a Sunday ‘hello’ and to let you know that we’re thinking of you and Koda. You’re an awesome fur mom and Koda is very lucky to have you fighting for him. You won’t let him down, he knows that. Keep up the great job.
Sending our love and hugs and hoping his appointment on 02/12 proves YOU have been right in doing all you are continuing to do and Koda proves to be the strong fella you know and love. xoxoxo Linda and Sadie
Thanks Linda and Joe,
Update on Koda: There was a cancellation on Friday and the specialist saw Koda. He had an ultrasound and saw no tumors or “cancer”. His organs looked ok. It’s still a mystery as to what he’s fighting but a full chem panel and tests ordered incl ..leptospirosis and coombs.
Results should be in tomorrow. I hope they can find something.
He lowered the pred to 10 Bid and let me pick up free amoxicillin until we get to the bottom of this.
He doesn’t feel as though it’s imha either.
I hope this rollercoaster comes to an end soon. I hate seeing him like this.
