Patrice – I am replying at the bottom
Hi Megan
I’m so sorry there’s no improvement in PCV & Sophie not eating is very worrying for you – it must be awful for you both to have to do this baby food syringing. BUT … as Vally says, her PCV is stable & that is a bonus. On British TV the other night, I saw a standard poodle with AIHA had to have 9 transfusions before she stabilised. So, they are all different. Again, I would contact Dr Dodds & ask her opinion on trying something different, or is she happy to continue with the current treatment, even though Sophie’s not eating much. I know some people have tried appetite stimulants (by prescription from their vet of course), so it may be worth talking about that. Just remember Joe & Dunes – sometimes things are difficult, but can be overcome. I presume your vet is absolutely sure that Sophie’s tummy & intestines have been thoroughly investigated for problems? Megan, you are an absolute star Mum – you are doing all the right things – keep going my friend. let us know what Dr Dodds says if you can.
All our best wishes
Sheena, Worzel & Ollie
I tried the Decadurabolinand believe it kept Dunes going for the 6th year. However, i think I should have stopped the Pred and that is something you need to ask Dr. Dodds. OSU told me it would kill Dunes but my VET, seeing no alternative, gave it to her after I signed a waiver.
I think giving it to her with the Pred might have compromised her liver but it did make what was left of her marrow work.
I certainly would try it but don’t wait to long because it has to be mixed and the vet needs to find a pharmacy that mixes drugs. It only cost me $100.00 for all six injections.
