Mattie has been diagnosed with AIHA

Dear Robert and family,
I am so sorry to read about Mattie. This disease is so complex and many times even if we do ALL the right things our dogs do not survive. Unfortunately I know this from our own experience. Please don’t blame yourself, Mattie was well taken care of and loved by all of you. Even if it was a short one, she had a good life.

If you feel up to it, this forum created a page called “the bridge”(at the top of the page in the blue banner), a column written by someone that has experienced the loss of a dog from this awful disease. Maybe it can help you a little bit. Of course I don’t know exactly how you feel, but I have a pretty good idea. No words can heal your broken heart right now. I know you have many wonderful memories of happy times with Mattie, these memories will eventually ease the pain and make you smile again when you think of her.

Very sad news – I am really upset to hear about poor Mattie & send you all my deepest sympathy. Please know you were doing everything you possibly could to help her. This disease is notoriously evil.
