Thanks Colleen! Jackie currently weighs 38.6 lbs (up from 35 last week!). Her normal weight is about 48 lbs so she is still very skinny. She was originally on 20mg 2x a day, then we reduced to 15mg 2x for a couple of weeks and now is on 10mg 2x a day since Friday. Saturday was her last day of Cyclo and she only had one dose of Aza before the internal med DR told me not to give it to her due to her pancreatitis so she is only on Pred right now. My normal vet wanted to switch to Aza because she thought she wasn’t responding to Cyclo but it turns out she wasn’t responding because of the pancreatitis. The reason why my vet did not think she had that is because Jackie doesn’t have abdominal pain with the pancreatitis but the internal vet said she clearly has it from the ultrasound and not to give her Aza. We are hoping that she can only be on Pred and be ok still! You hang in there as well!
Hi Anna
What a difference a day makes! Great to hear that things are looking so much better today – that’s really cheered me up. This disease is the worst roller coaster ride in the world – the trick is to stay on it & deal with the ups & downs. I have faith in the sucralfate – less & less bloody diarrhea can only be a good thing. Your diet is working a treat. Thinking of you & Jackie constantly
Love & hugs

Hi Anna. I just wrote a friend of mine here in FL that has a standard poodle, Indigo and has IMHA. Samantha went through so much with Indigo but because of her diligence and a great vet, Indigo pulled through.
I am so glad you are with us – sorry for the reason though. This is an awesome, knowledgeable group and their support has helped so many dogs/cats through this horrific disease.
My dog, Sadie, five year old cocker spaniel, has had her ups and downs, but a survivor. This group saved my sanity (well, that could be debated by those other than myself…) and literally “held” my hand through it all. Today, Sadie is doing well, after initial AIHA and two relapses. You are where you will find help and you are definitely, as others have said, not alone.
I hope Jackie continues to come out of all this. We are sending our heartfelt best. Love and hugs, Linda and Sadie
Oh Anna, I just came on to see if there were any updates on Jackie and I am so happy to hear this wonderful news!! Boy do I know what y ou mean about the roller coaster, it is exhausting. Sheena is right, the trick is to remember it’s a marathon and not a sprint and to hang in when we lose our hope, that is what is so wonderful about this group is to hold our hands and help us through those times. Thinking of you and Jackie and sending big hugs and celebrating with you!

Hi Anna, I am so sorry to read about what you are going through with Jackie. I am so happy to read through the thread and see the improvement!!!
My standard poodle Indigo was diagnosed with Evans Syndrome (which is a combo of IMHA and ITP) 5/21/13 and fought a long hard fight for over 6 months. At times I felt as I was not doing right by her. She had complete muscle wasting and her head was soft, sores all over her body and lost most all of her hair. I had my moments of doubting if I was doing the right thing or if she would ever recover. Well, thankfully she did. It was a long road but we made it through. The only lasting affect we can see now is she has muscle atrophy in her front leg….but other than that you would never know she was sick. She’s off all meds now (except for a pill to help her kidneys) the medication did so much damage to them. She will be 7 in March.
Keep the faith. Even when it seems most difficult. My standard is the smartest dog I’ve ever owned, and I’ve owned many. She knows me inside and out and I really had to watch how I acted around her because she feeds off me constantly. Please email me if you have any other questions, I will make it a point to check the forum, but I do not get on her as much as I probably should. You can contact me at (address noted & removed for your protection)
Thank you Linda, for letting me know about Jackie.

Hi Samantha
It’s lovely to hear from you & I am really glad Indigo is doing so well. Thank you for supporting Anna – it’s always nice to hear what others have been through to beat this diesease.
I am taking your e-mail address off the message above for your safety, just in case someone undesirable sees it & uses it. I will pass it to to Anna privately & am posting it the private content area underneath this.

Hi Anna. So winderful to read the improvement!! Amazing how you grin ear-to-ear when you get good news, isn’t it. It’s like the most beautiful ray of sunshine (even on a bleak day). :)
And so glad you wrote, Samantha. Thank you. I know Anna and Jackie can use the support of a fellow poodle fur mom and child. ;)
Keep up the great progress Janet. You are making your fur mom AND all of us very happy.
Much love, Linda and Sadie
