- Hope in a panic
Hey Linda!
Yea, I think this was our first (and last) Nylabone.. it just seems iffy to me. These things are so hard.. and sharp.. once they get chewed into. I shall try a bully stick – I’ll think of you when I search out the fat ones! Lol!
Hugs to you both!
Hope and the boys
Hey vally!
thank you for the info — I was wondering that.. If it’s like his new normal. I’ll take it any day but the selfish in me is chanting “come on! Keep going!” Lol!
Hugs! Hope
Hiya Hope
How’s Steve’s mouth looking today? I must admit my two previous dogs LOVED nylabones to an obsessional level, but they are very hard & become jagged. Maybe this was the problem – let’s hope that’s all it was & his mouth will settle down now. My two greyhound / lurchers are not very “chewy “types really, more lazy types actually (!) but they do like their Dentastix which last about 10 seconds. I know any type of food / supplement is a controversial subject. They also get large leg bones occasionally, but I stopped this when Worzel was on the pred as I was worried he might hurt himself & it wouldn’t heal up again, like his leg. Maybe keep it cautious from now on? Ollie is a right little monkey too – he wakes me up during the night pretending he needs the loo, when actually he thinks his bone is still in the garden & he fancies a quick midnight chomp! It’s quite funny watching him sniffing around for it. I actually put them in a plastic bag in the fridge, but he hasn’t worked that one out yet – DOH! Keep that great PCV up Steve,
Love Sheena, Worzel & Pea Brain xxxx
Yummy Sheena. Bingo gets all sorts of dried meats as treat. Dried fish fillets, chicken fillets, chicken necks (his very very favourite), beef straps and kangaroo tendons. Now the kangaroo tendons are the best for his teeth because they take a bit of work to get through. Well my lazy boy has worked out they take a lot of work and will try to bury them in the carpet or in his blanket. The rug takes a lot of work. His poor nose – he just rubs and rubs and rubs and can’t seem to get it buried. He then guards them with his life. If anyone looks his his directions, he runs back to where he’s put it and growls and barks and carries on.
Love Vally & sore nose.
Hey there Sheena and Vally!
Steve’s bumps are a little swollen today, not as much as they have been but a little. I had also sent Dr. Dodds photos of them and she said she’d watch it but not to worry too much since they don’t hurt him and they go up and down… She said she agrees it probably a trauma of some sort.
I wish I could give Steve raw meat (that’s what y’all are talkin about right?) for a treat — my little man deserves but I’m so worried about the darn bladder stones. I think chicken necks are supposed to be okay but I’m just nervous. He’s not much of a bone chewer either usually — much more a fan of hiding — but every now and again he’ll play with them.
Hugs to all!!
Xoxo hope Steve and Bean
Hi Hope
I’m really sorry I’ve not been around recently but am just trying to catch up a bit before I disappear again! I’m sorry you’ve had this worry with the lumps in the mouth, but fingers crossed you’ve gotten to the bottom of it now and it will start to heal up. I couldn’t help laughing about Ollie wanting to go out to find his bone in the middle of the night!
Great to hear that Steve is maintaining that PCV – excellent news! I hope that you, hubby and stinky are also doing well and hanging in there. You’re doing such a wonderful job. Molly and Mable used to lick each others ears clean too. I always found it very cute!
Much love, Mary & Mable x
Hiya Mary!
We’ve missed you! Lol! Sorry to read about your ill relatives but be careful traveling and good luck!!
The lumps have kind of stayed down the last few days — I feel optimistic that the vet was right and it’s just trauma. Dr Dodds said she felt it was the same — that saintly woman! I sent her 5 huge pics of his gums in the middle of the night and she responded back straight away lol!
My little mans starting to act up and will not lay down so I think he’s feeling better. I feel ridiculous — I have to literally lay down with him head to head or he won’t lay still. If I get up for anything he jumps up too.. So I’m pretty sure any visitors to the house over the last month think I’m the laziest sack alive. PCV is holding up so yay!! Next Monday we are due back for another Pred reduction so I guess I better enjoy the “calm” right now before the next roller coaster loop starts.
Hugs to you and Ms Mabel!
Xoxo hope and Steve
