John, I am so very sorry to hear about Fay. what medications does Fay take ? I know when my little girl Hayley was on high dose of pred her back legs had no muscel tone and she wasn’t able to walk or stand at all… due to her size I couldn’t fins a sling to hold her up.. so I made one from sheep fur(fake kind) so it was very softshe couldn’t use the bathroom on her own… her specialist couldn’t lower her pred due to the fact her pcv was so very low. after her pcv was up to 32% we tok her to U.T. in Knoxville,Tn. for therapy to build her muscel’s in her back legs… but it wasn’t just the back legs that had muscel wasting but her shoulders and all through her body… this is just a awful disease. I am praying that Fay gets better… my heart goes out to you as her parent and to Fay… I know how I felt seeing my baby like that.Hayley PCV was at 8% before her transfusion … she was so very slow to even get in the low 20’s then to the mid 20’s. I do understand the heart is so heavy Hayley was 7 yrs then… now Hayley is 11 yrs. old. I hope this will give you some hope to know they can get over this.. and it is long to get there to the good place… or it was for Hayley who is 2 lbs. there was a time she got down to 1 lb then 3lbs due to her liver being so enlarhged… now her liver tests are normal…. so many ups and downs in this awful disease.is Fay under a specialist along with her vet? maybe she too could get therapy to build up her strength also? that takes time to build back and for them to get strength. my very best. Lynn & Hayley
P.S. my hayleys vet showed me how to exercise Hayley… I do not know if it helped but I did it … Hayley just felt like mush all over… that is a very hard thing you are dealing with on your very heart.but get the vets approval and how to… hayleys vet is the one who said I must do that also her specialist is the one who set up therapy… I did not want you to think I meant to do that for fay… only to bring it up to fays vet and specialist. best to fay and you lynn& hayley
Hi john. My name is Linda, Sadie’s fur mom. Sadie was diagnosed with AIHA in 2012 and is in remission. I am so very sorry that your precious little girl, Fay, is so ill.
When was she diagnosed? Is there a cause that has been found? I was doing some research, as I have heard of this, but not dealt with it myself with any of my pups.
Could you tell us a bit more? Is this a secondary condition due to a primary illness or diagnosis? And of course, as Lynn asked, has Fay been diagnosed with AIHA? If so, can you bring us up to date with her condition?
We are here to help other fur parents dealing with the infamous AIHA/IMHA roller coaster and hope so much that we can help you too.
Please stay with us and let’s see if we can help you help Fay. We know how overwhelming this is for you. Fay is absolutely adorable.
Warmest regards, Linda
