GOOD NEWS !!!
Well we went in for Flossies PCV and in house CBC … her blood % went up 2 points to 22 and her reticulytes are over 90,000 now .. ( I know it’s only 2 percent ..but she’s never gone up only down so I’ll take it and last check on retic’s was only 18,000 so those have grown alot in comparison)
Dr. was very happy .. and she and all the staff couldn’t believe how good she acted and looked today .. so we are on our way with hopefully no dips in the road ahead. I told the girls at the vet they need to keep party hats behind the desk for these occassions ..LOL !!!
We go back on Monday for the next PCV ..
Thanks for the info. on Mary’s site .. I wondered if the Tumeric would have the same bleeding issue for dogs as humans .. exactly why my dad doesn’t take it .. Thanks for all the info. again !!! You girls are awesome !!!
Blessings
Sara
Sara,
Excellent! I personally have no doubts that this was the cyclosporine as this mirrors Chance’s recovery. Nothing for months, add the Atopica, and then he responded.
Please be sure to contact me directly about decreasing anything. I did plenty of math while he was sick and worked all of this out with Dr. Dodds each step of the way.
Remember that this recovery is dependent on keeping the killer T-cells highly suppressed for long enough to allow the bone marrow to return to normal. It’s a start, but let’s wait for the finish too, ok?

Well even better news Today !!
So yesterday when I was checking out at the vets .. I noticed on my bill a charge for CBC .. I wondered because I thought they only did a PCV .. then thought maybe there was an in-house CBC I didn’t realize they could do.
Anyhow this morning Dr. called and said she sent Flossies Blood out yesterday for a CBC test because it’s more accurate than the PCV .. and she was super excited asked us if we’re sitting down..
Flossies PCV was actually at 23 % ..and Reticulocytes came back at well over 300,000 .. she was just thrilled ..and of course so are we ..
Had to share the Good Updated news with you all !!!
Well girls… Good News and concerning news..
We had the PCV yesterday(5-16-16) and Flossie is at 30% with reticulocytes at 399,000 Up from 23% and 300,00 retic’s on ( 5-26-16)
She’s definitely more energetic when taking her out .. 2 days ago .. I was headed to take her pee .. and before I realized she had jumped out of the wagon and took herself pee .. Scared me half to death .. now I hold her leash with the wagon handle .. She’s back to barking at every dog she sees here at the hotel. Back to wagging her tail, giving kisses, laying across my legs to sleep, smacking my leg when she wants food, She actually scratched herself for the first time..and so on !
So the concerning news is .. Last week on Saturday she started frequently peeing throughout the day, so that evening I took her in .. and the attending vet that evening started her on Clavamox.. by midnight all symptoms just disappeared ( not long enough to credit the meds). So on Monday I reported to our vet ..and when she got cultures back Tuesday morning there was no sign of UTI ..but they did find E. Coli. Took her off Clavamox ( plus she wasnt handling it well).. then we did another Urinalysis yesterday and E.coli and Bacteria showed ..so they are doing a culture today to see what bacteria grow so they have a better idea of what to use to treat the E.Coli since it’s hard to kill and the antibiotics that do kill are hard on Kidney’s and Liver .. So Dr. is trying to find the most effective yet safest way we can treat her. I fear It may have been me that caused the E.Coli .. I was so tired and not thinking that I used a wipe on her a few times at night ..because she wet down all her hair on her legs .. and then had a soft bowl which was in her hair too .. not thinking I just wiped her in both areas with the same wipe ( I folded it in between using but still)..I feel horrible ! ..
Anyhow two steps forward and 1 back right now.
Other than that ..she’s doing just awesome.
I have been reading so many of everyone’s stories on the forum .. oh my each dog is so different .. My heart goes out to everyone .. Karen and Louis .. Amy and her puppy .. and so on .. what a journey we are all on with our dogs. You are all amazing people ! ..
