Yes, good luck Karyn. Be sure to ask for the Sucralfate. It should help his tummy right away.
Glad he’s eating! Love and hugs,
Linda and Sadie
Hiya, we’ve just got back from Rutland and Louis’s PCV is 21% bordering 22% :)
We are going to take 21% because if he drops we don’t want to feel it’s dropped alot.
He has a new tummy medicine it’s not sucralfate because he already has diarrhea and that could make it worse, he’s also given us CERENIA to take keep if he starts to be sick again, he has eaten a little bit and drank a bowl of water.
When they took him to test his blood he was gone for ages we feared the worst. But it appears he was ages because all the nurses came out to see him and wanted cuddles!
We are still watching him like a hawk and no doubt we will be still worry like mad forever, but this is the first time in weeks he’s not killed some of his RBC’s.
:)
Hi Karyn
Whooopppeeeeee! on the PCV. What is the new tummy med? Cerenia does stop them being sick (good stuff!) but it doesn’t heal ulceration. Hope it’s something good & Louis will soon be on the mend!
Oh, cuddles … the most important treatment ever in my view.
Love Sheena & the boys xxxxx
YAY!!! Love good news on the PCV!!! All the love and cuddles must be working! :)
Thanks for the update.

He’s been given Canikur Pro Paste and Metronidazole, Louis is really tired now apparently Cerenia can make them sleep.
He’s a little bit of food and he’s had a drink, so we will see how he is in the morning, hopefully he keeps what he has eaten down. One thing that is a worry is he’s lost 1kg since Monday so we need to keep an eye on that, it’s a good job he was a big dog before he became ill.
We seem to fall from a huge high to a huge low and in between is just worry. We are both knackered so we can only imagine how Louis feels.
xxxxxx
OK – from that, it looks like your vet is treating a suspected GI upset, likely infection or bad bacteria overgrowth – did he say. Probiotic plus antibiotic is the usual treatment. Let us know how he gets on – hope it will settle him down really well! Come on Louis, we want a higher PCV next time – you can do it, you are a fighter.
Worzel lost over 5kg & he was a skinny 22kg to start with. As you say, it really helps if they are big strong babies to start with – a big advantage! I think he’s holding his weight really well considering the length of time he’s been on pred, which is a huge positive.
Love & cuddles – I think we’ve decided 1 cuddle equals a million red blood cells – you have much cuddling to do!
Sheena, fell off the bed Worzel (a bit out of sorts) & his sensible friend Ollie whom he landed on slightly!
