- Diagnosed today.
Hi Debra, I am so sorry you are going through so much right now. This disease is nasty and to add on top of that the loss of your mother you must be devastated. My Standard Poodle Jackie is finally starting to recover after being diagnosed in November and having two blood transfusions. She almost immediately lost a significant amount of weight, from 48lbs to 35lbs and the doctor kept telling me cancer. Jackie is only 5 years old so I thought it couldn’t be so we just kept on with 20mg 2x a day of Pred and 100mg of Cyclo, including antibiotics, anti acid, etc. She started having bloody diarrhea that the vet said was from meds. She declined and was still losing weight so I took her to an internal specialist who diagnosed her with Pancreatitis as well. After we got that cleared up she is a brand new dog and her blood is increasing too! Don’t give up hope!! Jackie was on her death bed and has survived so far. The people on here truly saved me from going insane with worry for my pup!
Lots of hugs, Anna and Jackie
Debra,
I am so very sorry to hear about your mother. I am also so sorry Sadie is faced with awful disease… and, you have come to the right place. Sadie is so beautiful and I know how very special she is to you . I agree with all that has been said in upper posts. This awful disease hits fast… me I had never ever heard of until it hit my girl. AND, I can tell you Patrice and Sheena along with so many others helped me so very much. I am so glad you found this forum. I sure agree with Sheena on the removal of the spleen… it is a very serious operation unless it is a must. If diseased then it should be.Another sweet lady is Linda and she will fall in love with your Sadie as that face is so very dear she also has a beautiful girl named Sadie. My very best to you and your Sadie. You have been faced with such grief losing your mother and Sadie being so ill. I am so very sorry. But know these fur babies can over come this disease .my very best to you and dear sweet Sadie. Lynn & Hayley who was 7yrs when hit now 11 years old they do and can go into remission hope this give you the hope to know that
