Hi Debra
Just to add to what Vally said – Worzel slowly went downhill over a couple of months & our vets couldn’t find anything wrong – until I asked for a CBC & then it was obvious. It was seeing the specialist who knew what he was doing that made the difference. Because of the rarity of the disease, “local” vets don’t pick up on what it is very easily & it can be a combination of many things that sends them over the edge into bone marrow failure. Getting the right treatment & help is the trick & you have a really good vet on your side already. Keep your chin up & let us know if you are worried about anything.

Debra,
I came here 5 weeks ago with an initial misdiagnosis of this disease. Although my boy doesn’t have it, these folks took me in and supported me as if I was their family. I’m so grateful for them.
You have come to the right place. Hands down, these folks, with their cumulative knowledge of this disease will get you through this fight. Good luck Will keep you and Sadie in my prayers.

Hi Debra
Just read your e-mail message – I’m so pleased things are looking better for Sadie on the PCV front & that she has her appetite back too. We all hate it when they don’t want to eat. I’m sure everyone else would like to hear about how she’s doing & what Dr Dodds has said too – maybe you could post about it on here when you have time – very interesting & informative for everyone. Things are looking much more positive, day by day! Wonderful news.
Sending love & hugs, Sheena, Worzel & Ollie xxx
Hi Debra,
When I saw Sadie’s picture just now I got all teary eyed. You might have seen an other red Standard Poodle (or two) on the website. One of them is Kahlu, the other is Enzo.
Right now there is not really anything I can tell you, the others have done such a good job in explaining and with their advice. I hope with all my heart that your girl is feeling better, that the medications are kicking in and that you see improvement. Never give up!!!
I would be very interested to know where Sadie came from. There are not too many breeders of red Standards and I would like to know if our dogs are related. AIHA can run in certain breeds, if it runs in certain lines is not proven. It would be so interesting to find out more. My dogs breeder assured me she had never seen this disease in her dogs before and I tend to believe her. But then she might not even know. My dogs are from Paris Poodles in Chilliwack, British Columbia Canada.
Please give Sadie a very special hug from me and be assured I will send lots of good positive thoughts her way.
Best wishes,
Brigitte & the poodle boys
Hi Debra,
I just wanted to send my prayers and hope to you as well. We are going thru this now with our 2 1/2 yr old terrier, Pandi.
While this is so hard it is helpful to talk with those that are struggling too.
I am sending you a hug!

Hi Debra. Brigitte – I know – Sadie looks so much like your Kahlu. I was wondering when you were going to see Sadie’s picture. Isn’t she darling?!
Debra – how is Sadie doing? You have been so great with her and working so hard to get her well. I know this has all been a rough time. Sadie is very lucky to have you in her court and loving her so much. Keep us posted, okay?
Love and hugs, Linda and Sadie
Hi Debra. I just wanted to check in with you to see how your Sadie is doing? I sure hope everything is okay. Let us know when possible.
In the meantime – thinking of you both. Love and hugs,
Linda and Sadie
