Thank you everyone for your kind words and support. The Vet agrees with Patrice (thank you Patrice) – it is CVD. She feels it is peripheral not central which is positive….she can tell this by the direction his eyes are shifting and the direction he is falling towards – just as you mentioned Patrice. He is on antibiotic just in case it is an inner ear infection and also on anti-nausea meds. She feels it should clear up in 5-7 days. Yesterday he was o.k. but today not so much :( My fingers are crossed. Thanks again everyone.
Hi Tara. Just in and seeing this – poor you, your husband and Diablo. Goodness – we DO stay on our toes, don’t we?!!
I hope all is okay and that the antibiotic kicks in soon AND he clears of any walking sideways and eye twitching. Sadie does the side walking every now and then – weird. Then she’s fine. It’s all so scary.
We’re thinking of you all and hoping great updates about Diablo.
Love and hugs, Linda and Sadie
Hi Tara
How is Diablo doing now? This does all sound very frightening but thankfully it sounds as though it is something which can soon be treated? These animals sure do put us through some worry, although they are so worth it.
Mable and I are keeping our fingers (and paws) crossed that Diablo responds well to the antibiotics and is soon feeling much better
Mary and Mable x
Hi Mary, thank you very much for your kind words. Unfortunatley, Diablo is not much better yet….head tilt is more severe and he is really off balance. The cerenia is really helping the nauseousness and he is no longer vomiting but is not too interested in his food. He still tries to follow me around everywhere though – it breaks my heart. He is having trouble going out to the washroom now too :(

Hi Tara
My old dog Sprockett didn’t seem to be getting any better for the first week or so when this happened to him, in fact it was so bad I went to the vets to talk about having him put to sleep. The vets told me not to worry so much (ha ha) & to give him more time to recover – they were absolutely right – in a couple of weeks he began to perk up. I know this is horrendous to watch – I found it really distressing & would never let my animals suffer unnecessarily – but it is thankfully something that gets better. He was pooing & peeing anywhere in the house because he couldn’t stand up properly, throwing up & not eating properly, walked in circles & crashed into the furniture. I had to take him in the garden using a towel under his tummy to help him stand up. I promise he made a full recovery. I have 2 friends who’s dogs have been through this & it is terrifying when it happens. Both dogs recovered after a few weeks, although one still has a very slight head tilt, but it doesn’t bother her. Please take comfort from this & know I am thinking of you. If Claire (Ruby’s Mum) is around, her border collie Foster had this too & she is also recovered. Patrice’s suggestion of checking the antibiotics is a great idea too. Keep your chin up – this is a worrying thing to go through & we all feel helpless when they are like that. Let us know how Diablo is doing.
Loads of love from Sheena, Worzel & Ollie
