Hi Eleonora
Just stopping in to send my best wishes, and am so pleased to see Camilla is doing so well. As everyone has said, it’s best to be really slow and steady with the reductions, and ideally one medication at a time.
I hope she keeps on getting better and better!
Much love,
Mary and Mable x
girls, about pesticides : I read that there are collars and spot-on made from neem oil …. any of you use them? they are effective against fleas, ticks, mosquitoes and sandflies?
Eleanora, I remember this came up another time. There are doggie bandannas you can buy which are “impregnated with Permethrin, which is a man-made derivative of Chrysanthemum flower extract that is impregnated into clothing fibers. It usually lasts through up to 70 washings. And before you ask, no it can’t weep onto the skin or into water. They have tested this significantly since it is used for American Military clothing and have found that the only way Permethrin leaves the clothing is via dryer lint. So both of us have head to toe ExOfficio clothing and I put big red bandannas on the dogs. Search for Doggles Insect Shield Bandannas.”
Hi girls! are 12 days that camilla doesn’t take prednisone and she is well enough. But last night she had dinner at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. she vomited everything. so this morning I woke up at 6 a.m., I gave her food, and at 9 a.m. I brought from our vet and on that occasion I asked him to do a control blood count (the answer will come Tuesday). He told me that he preferred not to give her new medications, only one episode of vomiting could mean nothing, but to keep her controlled. just arrived in my office camilla ate some grass and shortly after she vomited again :( so I immediately called the vet to warn him and he told me to give her Peridon tablets (the active ingredient is domperidone. it is an antiemetic). currently camilla is assuming only 1/4 tablet of azathioprine every other day and a daily supplement of vitamin B and other vitamins and minerals. on the advice of the haematologist she suspended the ranitidine four days ago. she may vomit because she’s not taking a gastroprotective? can 1/4 of azatiprina taken every other day cause this? or I have to think that she is having a relapse?
Hi Eleonora
No, don’t panic just yet, please dear friend. Being sick once is no reason to. If it carries on though, there is something not right. My two eat grass then are sick occasionally too. Anything unusual with Worzel worries me even now.
I would re-start the gastro-protectant immediately (ranitidine) as acid can cause them to be sick (like us humans!). That is a small dose of azathioprine – let’s assume it’s not that for now & try the gastro=protectant again.
Please let us know how Camilla is doing when you get the results. I did mean to say – don’t leave us. It would be so nice if you can visit the site now & again, as other people need support too. Telling others about your experience puts people’s minds at rest & sometimes help them decide what hey need to do for the best, so don’t go away!
Love & hugs

hello sheena thanks for your immediate reply! before she was diagnosed with immune-mediated anemia I would not have worried about a couple of episodes of vomiting but now any nonsense alarms me. I ‘ll surely let you know the result of her analysis. I occasionally read on the forum though not often I write because writing in English on IMHA is quite difficult and takes me away a little time. at this time then I’m alone in the office because my husband is following the work of our new home, and his father has pneumonia (we all three lawyers and work together), so I have very little time, but I’d like to be able to intervene and certainly sometimes I will do it. I myself have found very helpful this forum (and indeed I will never stop to thank you!) so much that I wrote a post on the italian golden-forum inserting your website link for all those people trying to deal with this disease. there is no Italian forum like yours and it is difficult to find information or comforting experience in the italian sites . When Camilla will be healed I want to create a facebook page in Italian where to post all her analysis and her treatment and, if I may, again post the link to your site. Do not be afraid, i’ll not disappear …. also because for whatever stupid thing I will be back here … I remember that even now I’m part of the paranoid-club !!!!

Sorry – no pressure intended- a quick hello now & again would be lovely! I appreciate work takes up so much of your time, and your family of course. You really are a club member now, for sure though!
I’m really sorry to hear about your father-in-law – I hope he will soon feel much better.
It would be great for you to tell everyone about our site – all are welcome & we love to help. I think what Patrice has created here for us is unique & very useful for every owner in distress to find some reassurance.
Love & hugs
