- Bingo's blood test
Oh Vally that did make me smile. I love the image of him trying to keep his paws dry whilst rooting out cat poo! Bingo is a character for sure! I’m glad to hear he has a labrador friend, even if it is just a picture. It reminds me of Tigger in the Winnie the Pooh books, who launches at a tablecloth because it tried to bite him when he wasn’t looking.
Keep up the good work Bingo!
M & M x
Sheena, he’s been a little quiet for my liking – unless it’s meal times – then he’s a little loud for my liking.
The weather, I think, does affect him. It’s just so very humid and doesn’t want to let up. No rain for months, but it’s now been raining for a week.
We are 2 weeks and 2 days (who’s counting) into the last pred reduction with no ill effects, so he’s officially now on 1.9 mg pred a day. Good colour. I won’t relax though until we get to the 4 week mark, and, what the heck, until we go back to have his bloods checked again.
He no longer gets his every so favourite treat every day of dried chicken necks. He now gets some dried kangaroo or dried chicken tenders. Less fat. He only does a tap dance for these as opposed to wrap dancing and moon walking for the necks.
I’ve planned my whole week around his next blood test. It’s the week after Easter, so I’ve arranged to have the week off as there are 2 public holidays that week, plus my day off, plus my RDO for the month, and I’ll take 1 day off my holidays. I’m planning it on the assumption that further testing will be needed – so if I prepare for the worse case scenario, the tests will come back good – right??? (Vally you’re so glass half empty).
Love Vally & Bingo
Hi Vally
I think your glass is MORE than half full! It all sounds good to me – I’m glad to hear he’s coping with the pred reduction so well & still has a voracious appetite! I love the dancing description. But quiet? That’s not the Bingo I know & love – hopefully it’s just the humidity though. I know what you mean about the next blood test – we are only happy when we see the right figures & I am also of the expect the worst & deal with it mindset – part of the paranoid crazy world of IMHA.
The weather definitely has effect on them. Worzel used to love the heat, but I’ve noticed it knocks him out a bit now – he used to lie on the sunbed with me (under the sunblind) & lap up the heat, but I’ve had to stop him doing that so much. It’s a shame because he wants to be right beside us all the time – he’s a very clingy boy who needs to be cuddled & stroked.
Worzel has become a prize whinge-bag,Vally – he constantly whines for food & biscuits, then skitters round the place like a loonie! It starts about half an hour before mealtimes & the crying sounds like someone is torturing him. Ignoring him is pretty hard, but that’s what we have to do, even though it’s annoying!
Hope you have a good break from work & as you say, you will be able to have plenty of time with Bingo. So good that he’s had no more “episodes”. Fingers crossed for good blood test results from all of us over here.

You all are too funny! Vally, I am thinking of you and Bingo. It’s a long time to wait and I know it’s hard.
It is ALWAYS something. It’s as if, if you relax, you pay, so we stay on pins and needles. But I just bet he’ll good to go.
I don’t understand the pred reduction there. Here, I’m doing it in increments of 2.5mg at a time. I’m sure the dosing is different both there and in France (Worzel sweetheart).
Sadie and I are thinking of you all – always in our hearts and thoughts. Fingers, toes – all crossed for good vibes upcoming!
Much love and huge hugs, Linda & Sadie
Linda, he’s actually on 0.9 mg a day (I said 1.9 above by mistake) because he takes a quarter of a 5mg tablet (1.25mg) one day and an eighth of a tablet (0.625mg) the next day making an average of 0.9 a day. His vet said on the last visit to go from 1.25 daily to 1.25 every second day, but I’m terrified of skipping a day, so I convinced him to do it my way and then the plan is to drop the 1/8th tablet in a while and leave him on 1.25 every second day.
Love Vally & 0.9.
Vally – are YOU cutting these tablets?! I don’t trust my pill cutter at all. Sadie takes Pepcid (which is square and hard coated, da) , which I cut in half, or there about. It never comes out right, as hard as I try. So in my analytical (right) mind, I’m giving her the larger halves on the days she gets the Atopica. How dumb is that?!!
Cutting the tablets scares me. Someone just needs to accommodate us and make some up in our needed doses!!! ;)
I’m so glad he’s doing well. It’s so dog gone scary. Sadie being on a low dose of prednisone forever does not scare or bother me – but getting to the a determined maintenance dose does.
You are doing a wonderful job with your little guy. Bingo is such a trooper – so happy he’s doing so well!!!

Vally – you need to keep a journal about Bingo and compile a book. I think, really, you BOTH are characters!!! Thanks for the smiles!
Love you both, xo Linda and Sadie
