- Bingo – likes to make me worry
Hi Vally. I hope Bingo boy is being his mischievous self and feeling better. I wish I could get this Thyroxine/Soloxine to you – Sadie started on it last year and it made her hyperthyroid (blood test) so we had to stop it and she was fine, blood fine both ways. I wish we could start a ‘medicine bank’ because I know we all have extra and it’s all so expensive.
Keep us posted on our Bingo. Sending our love and huge hugs, Linda and Sadie
Vally,
I would have been ready to be committed. I am still anxious about Nauset because of Dunes.
The disease is so difficult and unpredictable it keeps one vigilant and anxious when anything out of the norm occurs.
Please keep us updated. I just said a prayer for you and your baby.
Joe
Hi Vally! Fingers crossed all ok with you and Bingo -he dose like to put you through it doesn’t he?!
Love
Claire
Hi Vally
Glad he seems to have settled down (although remains loud at dinner time – always a good sign), and that you have managed to bring your vet appointment forward. Bingo, please be a good boy for your Mum and stop worrying her. How’s he going with his pred reduction? Will you be weaning again soon or continuing at his current dose?
Mary and Mable x
We visited the vet today and Bingo did a full blood test again as well as a thyroid test. Everything has come back in the normal range, including thyroid and the ALT. The first time the ALT has ever come back normal. His PCV was a record high of 48.
His vet said that any neurological disorders require more invasive testing and feels that at this point, the symptoms that I’ve seen are too subtle for us to go that way. We’ll just keep watching.
He also urged me to drop the other 1/8th of the 5mg tablet (currently 1/4, 1/8, 1/4, skip), going down to 1/4 tablet every 2 days. Even though it’s a small dose, the less he’s on the better. So okay, from Thursday we’ll start every second day dosing at 1.25mg. Oh scary days.
I asked about the adrenal glands and when do they start kicking in whilst on prednisone. He said there’s no simple answer to that. Whilst he’s sure that Bingo’s current low dose means the glands are likely doing most of the work, it’s really only by going to every other day dosing that we know.
Love Vally & Bingo.
Hi Vally!
OOOOOOOHHHHHHH – whoopeeee – what a great PCV – must be those new booties? Fantastic news on the ALT too. I’m glad he’s not had any more funny episodes either. Wishing you all the luck in the world on the next reduction. I was listening to a talk on-line from an endocrinologist called Dr Teitelbaum (same seminar that Dr Dodds was talking live on actually) & he reckons in humans, pred has to be taken at over 20mg to affect the adrenal glands. Under this amount, OK apparently. How much does an average human weigh though? Should we say approx 80kg as an average of male & female? I appreciate that we are talking about dose reduction here, so it’s hard to say when & how long it takes for the glands to recover.
Loads of love to you & Bingo

PS Ollie says thank you loads & loads Aunty Vally – the GLM & gelatin are really working already!!! He is moving like a puppy dog now & running around again. You truly are the Queen of arthritis supplements!
