- Ashki – new thread
Hi Tamara
Just trying to catch up a bit and am delighted to see that Mr Ashki is doing fabulously well. That’s fantastic! I hope by now that he has been able to have some fun running about with his friends. Have you started raw feeding? I am still too scared with Mable, although she supplements her own diet with poor raw things from time to time. You certainly sound busy, but agreed it’s a very better busy than a year ago. I cannot believe it’s a whole year. You have done so, so well to get Ashki to this point Tamara, and no-one could have done more.
Please give that boy love and cuddles from us, as ever.

tamara, I too have read about the newer drugs being used for this disease and less prednisone. It was not around during Hayley’s fight with IMHA but I did use the liver cleansing diet dr, dodds emailed me. I always try to keep up with info on this disease. I have been away for a few years on the forum as many heart operations and ect… but I have a lot to study on the new medications . I have read that new meds are much easier on our fur babies and quiker to take effect inside the system of our babies… ands the cost( should) be less but when I read about them they were not being used…. I am glad that ashki vet is up on this and doing everything right along with the wonderful dr.dodds… she is such a wonderful lady who just loves fur child so much. my sister’s daughter who is a doctor looked this info up for me when I was in the hospital in texas . hope I can find it again she was able to find things( I couldn’t or didn’t know how to) very good to hear that ahki is feeling well and happy….mary, I had a cat a while back that was a ragdoll loved to ride in the cat ha! but monk didn’t it was a cat acted more like a puppy ha! so sweet and would go limp when you picked her up her name was monkey don’t know why my husband said come here you cute little monkey it stuck so we called her monk or monkey. that is the sweetest breed ever for cat fancier’s. .. so very loving.
p.s. best wishes and many good thoughts to you sweet ashki and tamara… lynn & hayley
Lynn and Mary, thank you so much for your good wishes to Ashki.
I thought you all would enjoy this video of Ashki, this last weekend we went away for the weekend for the first time since his diagnosis. We went to a picnic of a Shiba Inu breed club, many of our friends were there who have supported us through this diagnosis. Anyway — they had a fundraiser, a “toy grab” for the dogs, you paid a small fee and your dog got to go in the pen and choose a toy. Well — Ashki tried to get his money’s worth!
He is doing well, maintaining low normal after a dip when we reduced his pred again.
He’s not yet running off leash yet or eating raw, I want to do these things very very slowly. Right now we’re not changing anything until we see how the trip affected him — I’m insisting on going very very slowly with everything this time so that if he does relapse we will have a very good idea of what caused it.
Sending you all big hugs and much love —

Hi Tamara!
I could not stop laughing! Ashki is so funny! I will keep this and if I ever have a bad day will watch it. Ashki is like a crocodile in a Golden coat, no wait, he is just a typical Golden, everything has to go into that mouth. No wonder you are very happy about how that boy is doing and believe me we are all very happy too. Ashki you made my day!
Love and best wishes,
Brigitte
Hi Tamara
Thank you for cheering us all up – like Brigitte, that made me laugh out loud – what a GREEDY boy!!!!!! Seriously, that was incredible grabbing so many at once. No wonder everyone thinks he’s adorable – we all certainly do on here. Glad he’s doing so well too.
Sending you both tons of love & cuddles

Tamara,
Oh my goodness! He’s a riot!!!!! That needs to go viral! What a cutie pie he is. I think the more laughter he heard the more it fueled him, and his tail didn’t stop going once! Precious guy ;)
So happy for the both of you!
