- Ashki – new thread
Hi Tamara
Hope you’re feeling a bit better – colds are a real nuisance – I hate them!
Excellent retics Ashki – keep it going. Crossing everything for you & Ashki (and Hope & Steve of course) with the pred reduction too. Worzel’s wee protein was ++ on the pred, so we all know the effects & hope to be able to reduce it as much as possible without rocking the boat.
What rotten news about little Roxy – her Mum would be so very welcome to join us. We all know support from others who have experienced this helps a lot in the early, very scary, days of the disease. Please pass my very best wishes to her when you can – hoping they have a good vet who is able to give the right treatment, but I know you will be there to guide her on this.
The boys thank you for their lovely cuddles & are sending you loads of love
Sheena, Worzel & Ollie xxxx
Tamara, those cold germs are doing you a service in building the immunity :p
Bingo never rolls in poo!!! It’s too precious to waste. He only eats it. Now dead worms, they’re supposed to be rolled on so they stick in your hair and mum has to pull them off and they come apart, making mum feel sick.
Good luck on the pred reduction. Bingo’s PCV after sitting in the low 30s for ever so long, started moving up as the pred was reduced, so fingers crossed.
Yes, Roxy and her mum would of course be very welcome here. She’s got you on her side too.
Love Vally & Bingo
Hi Tamara
Lovely to hear that Ashki is still maintaining his PCV and feeling so well in himself. I will be keeping everything crossed that he continues to stay well through this reduction, but I know you will be on top of it and he is in wonderful hands with you.
Colds are yuck, I feel for you. I’ve recently had a charming little bout of winter vomiting virus, but I have to say I’d take that over a cold! I don’t deal well with those at all! I really hope you are feeling better soon, and do remember to look after yourself.
I’m so sorry to hear about Roxy. Your friend would of course be very welcome here.
Love, Mary and Mable x
Very sad news, little Roxy lost her fight after only 2 days. She was at a specialist hospital with a vet that had treated many cases of IMHA, but her IMHA was very very aggressive, they just could not get on top of it. She has 3 transfusions and the RBCs were being destroyed just as quickly. She was on cyclo for skin issues and they reduced the dose and the IMHA hit her like a train. They were thinking perhaps the IMHA was there but the cyclo was holding it in check enough that they didn’t see symptoms. Roxy’s mum Kim was just getting ready to send everything over to Jean and bring her in when Roxy passed. I hate this disease and all the pups it has stolen before their time.
I am doing a bit better with the cold, just feeling wrung out and exhausted. Drinking loads of tea and chicken soup and getting pretty sick of that but it does help. Ashki is keeping me good company, though.
Vally, I am hoping the same will be true for Ashki as we continue to reduce, and so far that has been the case. I am thrilled that his HCT is in the low 30s now too! It has only gotten to barely 31 in the past.
Mary, I’m with you, I’d rather have a quick stomach flu too, it seems like you get them and then you’re done. Colds just seem to linger on and on and keep me feeling like poo (though Ashki doesn’t want to roll on me — darn. I think that would make me feel better).
Sheena and Hope thank you so much for the well wishes and Ashki says thank you for the hugs and love.
Sending you all many hugs and much love —

I’m glad to hear about Ashki, but it’s so so sad to hear about Roxy. This disease is SOOO dreadful; I hate it, and hate to hear about other dogs getting it. I hope Kim is coping – as well as any of us can do in these awful circumstances.
Keep on taking care of yourself
love

Dreadful news about poor Roxy – I am very sad to hear this happened & so quickly. Awful. I really hate this disease too – please send Kim my deepest condolences. If we can do anything to support & comfort her at this sad time, please tell us.
Hope you are feeling a little better in yourself – keep warm & cosy
Love Sheena xxxx
Dear Tamara.
I’m so sorry to read about poor Roxy. Kim must be devastated and it’s awful news to hear. Please do let her know she’d be more than welcome here if she would like some support. It’s such a cruel disease, and I think being amongst others who really understand can help, just a little.
I hope you are feeling a little better. Give that lovely Ashki an extra big cuddle from us.
