- Ashki – new thread
Don’t worry Tamara – maybe I missed something & you DID say! Anyway, Ashki is certainly getting full attention & some great new treatment ideas – your new vet is trying everything possible. I have heard good things about Mary Straus too. Crossing fingers & paws that all these changes including the MMF drop will make a difference to your lovely lad. Wishing you luck for Thursday.
Love from all of us

Ashki’s PCV was 33 today, up 2 points! Not a big increase but definitely maintaining, I am very happy. We also did chemistry, urinalysis and UPC and I should have results back tomorrow, I’ll let you know. Oh, but more good news – Ashki gained two pounds on his new diet! He is loving all this extra food. I’ve been spending a lot of time planning it all out and of course cooking lol. Tonight I’m cooking green beans and squash. I had a hard time at first figuring out how to meet the requirements — appropriate number of calories and grams of protein, but I finally got it. He’s eating well LOL, better than I am.

Thank you Vally! How is Bingo, I’ve been thinking about him. I have to admit I’m scared next week will be a drop — it’s this awful roller coaster disease. I know you all understand — I swear we are scarred for life.

Hi Tamara
Very pleased to see Ashki is up 2 points AND some weight gain – fantastic! You are right – this disease changes you completely. None of us will ever be the same – I worry about every little thing about the dogs these days (both of them!), As Vally always says to everyone, welcome to the crazy, paranoid world of the AIHA/IMHA club. That is probably why you are worried about a drop next time & we ARE all the same. I don’t know what I would have done without the support of everyone on here during the bad times. In the meantime you have wonderful news here – I hope Ashki is is feeling good & happy. Keep up the good fight – you are doing the best job in the world for him. Enjoy the cooking!
Love & support always

Brilliant, Tamara!
I am thrilled to hear that Ashki is maintaining his PCV and gaining weight. Clever boy, and clever mummy! I am hoping the urinalysis results were informative (and reassuring).
Yep, this disease changes us all. You are not alone! Mable remains subject to routine scrutiny of her mucous membranes, whilst the kitchen remains subject to routine scrutiny for microscopic pieces of garlic which just *might* have fallen to the floor, which just *might* end up in Mable’s bowl, and just *might* cause a horrible anaemia. Madness? Possibly. But I also know I will always think of these things with my animals from now on in, and as Sheena says, we are all the same and all suffer with this “hypervigilance”.
Green beans and squash? Mable and I will be on the next flight over ;) I hope he enjoyed it. Give him lots of belly rubs and ear licks from us.
