- And introduction to Casy
Okay, the staggering worries me more than anything. Do you know how to do a dog’s temperature? Thermometer up the backside. Normal is 101 to 102.5.
Darker wee could be she’s a bit dehydrated, but putting it all together, yes, keep an eye on her and back to the vets if she’s like this for too long.
Waiting to hear.
Vally.
Oh, the paler gums too. If they’re not moving about much or sleepy, the gums ARE paler – all to do with the spleen, which supplies blood when needed. Check then when she’s moving about for a more accurate colour.
You can also do a capillary refill check to see if oxygen is getting through the blood. See this. https://www.secondchanceaihadogs.com/AIHA_Terms/capillary-refill-time/
Don’t do this too often – can’t remember why (duh).

The staggering is actually normal. She has walked like a drunk sailor since the first day she could walk.
I do not have a thermometer so, I have been using my lips pressed against her belly and comparing that to the the other two girls. She is warmer, not a whole lot but definitely noticeable.
I tried the CRT but, her mouth is very tiny.
For tonight all I can do is keep her in bed with me ( i put on the satin sheets on the bed as this really works to leach heat away)
I have been using a well wrung out damp towel to keep her from over heating. She is not shivering and seems to enjoy it.
I will see how she is in the morning. I am slowly starting the meds again. She is not happy about that.
ok I am no expert so please just hear me out for a min. Why in the name of all that is holy is this dog being weaned off meds??? It is too fast! I didn’t get to read every single word of every post but this seems off to me. Am I missing something here???
What is the expected time to be on meds? I know that all dogs and situations are different, what is the expected average?
