- And introduction to Casy
We’ve all stuffed up a med somewhere along the line. It can be exhausting with one dog, let alone 3. Just yesterday, couldnt for the life of me remember if I had given Bingo his thyroxine in the afternoon. Didnt know whether to give him one in case I hadn’t or leave it in case I had. In the end left it.

Just a quick update.
She is doing much much better. I know this because she is barking at the mailman, the meter reader, and I got bit trying to give her a pill. Now, to fatten her up … again.
All of Casy’s blood work came back with flying colors. Liver enzymes are a bit high, we will go back in 2 weeks to have that rechecked.
She has put on 1 lb ( almost back to where she was) . Her last dose of Pred is in two days. and that is that.
No, just to monitor her and make sure she keeps eating.
Thank you for this site. It was very cool to make a new friend.
Val, thank you for holding my hand through this. It was good to have you just a few key strokes away.
Al, your clever girl did all the hard work make those red blood cells. Well I think you may have helped a bit too with shoving in those evil but necessary tablets, risking life and limb.
Don’t stress about the liver, it recovers from the most brutal of assaults we throw at it. If you find the enzymes are still high, you could add some Denamarin. Your vet will most likely have it, but you’ll find it much cheaper through Amazon. It works magic, as as it’s dose precise, you can’t go wrong. Milk thistle works really well too, but as quality can vary, it’s a bit more hit and miss.
Looking on the positive side, Miss Casy should probably not be automatically immunised in the future unless legally required. Most of our dogs should not be immunised. The safest you can do is have her titer tested for immunity levels instead. With heart worm medication too, use Dr Jean Dodd’s protocol. Being in Louisiana, I think you need to be careful with mozzies, so you do need to use protection all year long, but Dr Jean’s recommends every 45 days instead of every 30 days. See

I have a problem. Today was my first day back to work. Casy ate this morning and went pee in the back. She seemed normal. pee was normal in color.
I came home, she barked and was happy. As I was making dinner she just nibbled. She didn’t seem herself. kinda tired and was .. walking a little staggering.
I went into our tv room to give her some attention and brushing and she felt hot. I think she has a fever. I checked her gums and they are pale with a yellow tint to them. THe whites of her eyes are white and not the jaundice yellow color like she had when she was sick.
Someone have any advice? She has been weening off the atopica and Pred, her next dose was due tomorrow morning. I decided to give her one atop and am just watching her.
She is alert and not quite active. Little worried here.
