Hi Wendy,
I’m so sorry you’re going through this! But, PLEASE, do everything Dr. Dodds and these ladies prescribe. They have literally saved our dog’s live!!!! My vets were humble enough to listen to their counsel and we’re now more than 4 months in and our little girl has pulled through!!
♡ Susie and Emily
Hello Ladies,
I just came back from the vet. His level went up to 15%. I am happy to say that he is showing signs that he is getting better. I will also be getting his prescription of Cyclosporine tomorrow and I am waiting for the Pet-Tinic and all of the other things that was linked to me by Friday. I am happy to say that I am also adding Iron rich foods to his diet.
I am excited that he is getting better, but I am also so scared that I am giving myself too much hope. I am scared for the future if my baby pulls through. I keep reading about the possibility of relapses.
I know I shouldnt worry about the future and should just be concerned about this moment and the time I spend with him, but I am just scared for my furry buddy.
With much love,
Wendy and Frankenstein
Wonderful news, Wendy!!!!! I know you are grinning ear to ear. And should be!!! Going UP is always good and reason to be optimistic. We know that feeling of being afraid. Each and every one of us here. But you know what, be happy, be very, very happy – because Frank cam sense that and will only promote him to do better and better.
Of course you are afraid, but Frank has youth on his side AND he’s a strong boy. Sadie’s 1st relapse (we are certain) was due to weaning too fast. Just remember, when Frank becomes stable enough to start weaning (not back to regular PCV, but stable), start to wean SLOW, SLOW, SLOW. Do just as Patrice outlined – she is right on the mark. But we’ll deal with that later. He’s on his way. Be a bit guarded, but this really is cause for a yippee dance and celebration!!!
Way to go with being awesome fur parents. Frank is one lucky boy to have both of you, your love and determination!!! 😍
Love, Linda and Sadie
Wendy,
I have a few Cyclosprine left from when Emily was on loading dose. They’re 50s. Let me know if you need them and I can ship to you ASAP.
Wendy,
one thing we can learn from dogs is to live in the moment. But we are not dogs and worry about the future and stew about the past. Sometimes that is a good thing, we really have to plan for the future. But right now with Frankie boy, just enjoy the present and don’t think to much about what could happen. You should be happy his PCV went up and celebrate! I know it is hard to relax with a dog that is so sick still. However I think it is important for Frank that he knows that you are not worried, you got this, he can feel safe with you by his side. This rise in PCV is a very good start, now you are off to the races, it will be a marathon, not a sprint. If you show attitude, be confident that you are ready for this race, you can certainly win! Don’t let those fears even creep into your mind, face it full on, you and Frank can do this together!
Best wishes,
Brigitte
Hiya Wendy
Don’t even think about relapses – as Linda says, they usually happen because the medications are weaned too fast – fact. If you follow the rules (there are guidelines on this site), it really is rare to have a relapse. No-one can guarantee anything, of course, but I promise we’ll guide you though weaning when Frank is stable. Let’s get Frank up into normal levels to start with – you are getting the drugs tomorrow & adding the PetTinic etc – you’re doing everything you can.
I can remember Brigitte telling me something like “dogs don’t know they are ill” when Worzel was diagnosed – she’s absolutely right – a very wise lady! They just want to be beside us & are happy with the little things in life like love, cuddles, food & fun.
You are doing a GREAT job for Frank

The vet ordered 100 mg cyclosporine. 15 tablets for $90.00! I also checked online, the website that I was given by my vet, they have it for a little cheaper, but it takes a couple of days to get here. I am going to check in with my boyfriend later on to see if he would be able to drive to Santa Rosa’s Costco for the medication. If it is possible, then we try to get that prescription through them.
I am so happy for Frank. Our next appointment is scheduled for this Thursday. I am going to keep on praying and keep everyone updated.
With lots of love,
Wendy
I m so disheartened. I just got a call back from my local vet. She finally got all of his blood work from the lab she sent it to as well as all of the information from UC Davis. Both tests show that they aren’t even sure it is IMHA. They are treating it like it is, but they don’t have a definite answer. They told me that if he remains stable in a week that we would think about moving forward with a blood transfusion that would have to be done in Davis. I am so afraid that next weekend we have to make the hardest decision of my boyfriends and mine life. We don’t want to lose Frank.
I don’t want to lose my little boy.
Heartbroken,
Wendy
