Wendy, you have done GREAT!!! Don’t doubt that. This disease drives us crazy I’m certain. It takes it’s toll mentally, physically, emotionally and financially. I’m so glad Frank’s on the thyroxine and denosly. Let me know if you need Frank’s medicine chart fixed up.

Something that I have noticed on Frank are these white spots on his tongue. I am not sure what they are, but I have a scheduled appointment with the vet tomorrow. One for the blood check up and two to see what this new thing is. Have you seen your dogs go through a lot of this, infections in general? The pimples on his stomach are practically gone, now it is just the arm that we are dealing with.
Oh, and I got a call from the vet about the culture. It is a bacterial infection and it is not resistant to the drugs she is giving him. Yay! Winning a small battle.
I am glad that I can bring him to work, but I am making sure that any of the areas he is in I clean…and clean some more. But at least he is not at home by himself. I think that it would drive me insane leaving him there.
IMHA/AIHA is such a frustrating disease. I just wish I had a magic wand and all of our pups would feel better.
Oh, before I forget. I had a question regarding exercise. My partner has taken him on small walks around the neighborhood (we have a chemical free neighborhood mandated by our housing authority) but it seems he wants to go on longer walks. We have purchased a cart for him to be pulled, but he doesnt like it. We are trying to train him to stay on, but I dont think he enjoys the bumpy ride.
With much hope and hopefully no more scares, at least anytime soon,
Frank’s mom
Yes Wendy, this disease is very frustrating! Up and down…two steps forward one step back. I suspect that the white spots you see on Franks tongue are little ulcers. My dog had them on his gums. I think they can be a bit painful, hopefully thy will disappear soon. On my dogs gums I applied some chamomile tea. I don’t know if that would work on the tongue.
I think that if Frank is up to more exercise, that will be ok. Maybe you can take the cart along and in case he gets tired you can put him in?
Best wishes,
Brigitte
How funny, I have made Chamomile Tea Ice cubes for him. He loves them, especially for this heat.
Hi Wendy
The white spots might be thrush (oral candidiasis) which often happens during or following antibiotic treatment, or as Brigitte mentioned, ulcers – side effects from the drugs.
I am assuming Frank is in the cart, not pulling it? Pictures, please!!!! Gentle exercise is great, but not running around like a loonie just yet.

Me too!! Sheena – good catch on the spots. We finally get them back to having a pink tongue and then he gets spots. Poor Frank. Is Frank on Sucralfate? And how about a bit of plain greek yogurt for his tongue?
Okay – again, pics please! Love and hugs, Linda
