Hi Cindy
Glad to hear she’s breathing more comfortably. She is going to be absolutely knocked out with this infection until the antibiotics get to work. Hoping she’ll start to feel much better in the next few days. I think a long course of antibiotics might be needed because the infection has really gripped her. Please look after yourself too – she needs you on top form!

Hi Cindy,
I noticed Bingo slept a lot when I first got him home from hospital. I think the high dose of prednisone really does take it toll. With all those lovely reds circulating though, I’m sure she’ll start to feel a lot better.

Hi all ! Wanted to let you know Abby is doing better. She is eating better, a little more alert. She even wagged that little tail of hers a couple times . We have another PCV test tomorrow. Even though it seems like she is feeling better. Her gums and belly are not as pink as they were a couple days ago. I also think she’s getting used to the doxycycline. Cross your fingers, toes, and eyes that her levels haven’t gone down too much !!!

Crossing everything for a good number. I’m thrilled to hear she’s acting a little better. Little steps forward are good.
If Abby is lying around and sleeping a lot, the colour may not be very accurate. It’s all to do with the spleen. A dog’s spleen releases blood as and when needed. Patrice explains it well. The door bell rings, a dog who is asleep, suddenly jumps up and runs to the door barking. The dog’s spleen will instantly respond and start pumping blood out to cope with the dog’s alarm going off. So when they’re sleeping, they will always be paler than when alert. She explains it better :)
