- Abby, the Shih Tzu
Abby took a turn for the worse this morning. Not eating, coloring not good. I pray this is just a hiccup. I’ve read that after receiving a transfusion..it could last for a couple days then you’re right back where you started. I will keep you all informed.
Cindy
Tell us all about it. Is she still on antibiotics? do you have her latest blood results, please? Her transfusion was a while back, so could it be something else? Are you at the vets? Have they tested for pancreatitis?
Worried about you
Sheena x
I’m so sorry she’s dropped, Cindy – that’s really disappointing for you after the increase last time. Glad you’re carrying on with the doxycycline & didn’t reduce the pred either – that would have been a bad move. I know you know infections really slow their progress, but it’s hard to keep yourself from worrying. Send us the the test results as soon as you can – and keep your chin up. She’ll get through this with your wonderful TLC.
Are her medications the same as on the 22nd August? When is her next test? I would do another PCV in a couple of days to see what’s going on.
Love & huge hugs to you all

The only blood test they did was the PCV and total protein which was 6.6. Yes, she is on the same meds, no change. I am very worried. Have you heard of a decrease like this and then pull through bringing the PCV up without another transfusion ? I’m hoping once the infection clears up, her PCV will raise. Her vet is out of town. Won’t be back until Thursday..we took her to an emergency clinic. I was going to wait until she got back to take her in..she is so good with us and I know she will know exactly what to do. But you’re right, we should take her back in a couple days. I know the vet that is at the office had said last time he might consider adding Arava…I really don’t want to add something else, but I guess if it’s going to save her we will do it, but that seems like an awful lot of meds.
