Update on Sweet Abby. Took her in yesterday and her PVC went up to 34% from 31% on Wednesday. We take her back on Friday and if it continues to rise, she said we can start reducing some of the meds. This is the first time that we can actually go a whole week before another PCV…it’s been every three days for us. We noticed one of her pads were swollen. Doc started cutting the hair aroind it and found that it was infected. So, needless to say se needs to continue the doxycycline. If the infection doesn’t look better by tomorrow they will need to put her on something stronger. The only thing that still is concerning is all the test seems to be doing better but she still is very tired all the time. I’m hoping it’s the meds that make her like this and once we start reduction, she will have a spark of energy. Sorry for the long update, but wanted to let eery one know how she is doing.
Still cautiously guarded
Hi Cindy!!! Hello wonderful Abby!!!
I wonder if you start the Nordic Naturals Omgega 3 Pet, if that would help? It has helped Sadie! She was having a horrible time with flaky skin – really bad, like snow. She has been on it twice a day, for a month, stopped. A much needed supplement6, omega 3. Many use it here. I buy it on Amazon. There is a liquid form, which I use and just put in her food twice a day, but they also have gel caps, which can go into their food or actually, they will eat as a treat! Omega 3’s are a must.
Abby is doing SO great! Just a glitch, I hope this infection on her paw pads subsides soon. You know the drill – keep us posted (text too). xo
Love, hugs and kisses!
Linda & Sadie (doing well, BTW)
Hey Cindy
Thank you for updating us. I’m so pleased to know Abby is doing well. Hopefully the antibiotics will take care of the infection in her paw. She is bound to be tired for a while, since her PCV is still not in the normal range (but doing very well!) and the meds can make them feel lethargic. Keep a close eye on her though, as I know you will.
All best wishes,
Mary and Mable x
Hi Cindy
Poor Abby’s paw sounds very sore, bless her. That may explain why her neutrophils are still a bit high on the latest test I saw, plus her feeling a bit under the weather too. The doxycycline should clear this up hopefully. If it doesn’t, they should really take a sample & find out exactly what it is to be able to tell which antibiotic is effective to use. I know you will watch her closely in the meantime too!
I agree with Mary – don’t start any reductions – please trust us on this – until Abby has a couple of normal level blood tests – it’s not worth the risk.
Cindy – she really is doing so well – I am really pleased she’s coming up nicely on the PCV front. Remember, some dogs come up faster than others.
Love & hugs
