- 4mo pup IMHA
You say you are no good with medical stuff? I doubt anyone could have explained, backed up their explanations with absolute proof, offered to bend over backwards any more or better than you have. Perfect, Amy. But still you hit a brick wall. Did this person’s vet come from the UK? It sounds like the kind of ignorant, closed-minded & conceited reply I have heard a million times to UK owners in regard to many aspects of IMHA.
I am sorry you are battling with this, but battle you must. Surely if these people read Coal’s story thoroughly on here, they cannot fail to understand why you feel so strongly. The breeder surprises me – surely she should want to know everything about this from a reputation standpoint, plus to protect any of her puppies from IMHA?
It is a sad fact that vaccinations make money for vets & so many are continuing to over vaccinate. I take my boys for check-ups even though Worzel isn’t ever vaccinated & Ollie has the bare minimum according to Dr Dodds/Schultz protocol, so we still pay them for that, plus blood tests, titer tests etc as responsible owners.
I can understand ignorance amongst owners ( I was one of them) who religiously get their pet vaccinated as instructed by their vet. But there is no excuse for ignorance amongst vets. Vally’s amazing story of having the guts to insist on titers & telling them the truth shows it is worth persevering. I myself gave our local vets a copy of Dr Dodds schedule. They took no notice either but I keep on telling them every time anyway – getting one if them on board would be a start.
Stick to your guns, Amy or should that be “Amy, get your gun”! ( sorry to any Annies out there). If we shout loud enough for long enough, someone WILL listen. I hope you get your precious pup & that this will not mess things up. May the force be with you, Princess Leia.
Don’t stop fighting

Thank you so much for the support Sheena. I wish they would teach this stuff in vets school. It should be mandatory. As my nutritionist said yesterday.
“Sure her vet/breeder is against this. She will be losing money if your breeder gets on board. All the while she is risking her own puppies as well… IDIOT!”
I don’t want to have to get nasty with this woman but I am going to tell you that I am about to lose it with her and say “DONT YOU DARE VACCINATE MY PUPPY!!!” I know its not really how I want to handle this. I hope she just lets me forgo my 2 year health guarantee and be done with it.
Amy, I find this absolutely amazing. Since it will be your puppy, you would think you would have a right to have a say in this issue. Especially bearing in mind what you have gone through with Coal.
I agree, the vet is always going to be against this as he would be losing hundreds of dollars if the breeder decided this was the way to go. Even if she were to offer a choice to the new puppy’s owners, those who say don’t vaccinate yet, and there would not be many who would say that, it means her vet misses out and the money will go elsewhere.
Keep up the good fight.

Thank you Vally! I knew I could count on you all for support. I am sticking to my guns. My vet said she is not at all worried about the puppy coming home unvaccinated and she is 100% positive it will be protected so yes I should have a say. You would think so since I am the one dropping 2 grand on a dog. Peoples ignorance astounds me but I guess it shouldn’t.
Thank you again. I am keeping up the good fight for Coal and all the other IMHA pups who have suffered unnecessarily.
XO
Amy & Coal ( my reason to fight)
a follow up e-mail from the breeder:
” I understand where you are coming from. I just never heard f one of my dogs having this problem and this procedure is foreign to me.
I would like to do the titer so I know what protection the puppy has.”
I’m so happy that she is actually considering this. Maybe just maybe I can educated her on the “less is more” practice of vaccinating puppies. All it takes is ONE person at a time to educate themselves and maybe one day this whole IMHA nonsense will be a thing of the past.
I am sorry I have been MIA. I had elective surgery on my eye and I am still not back to 100% Grrrr. ANYWAY, Our new puppy was born on August 1st. Her smallest litter ever. 9 pups 5 girls 4 boys. We are very excited. The breeder has agreed to no vaccinations. YES! I pray that is the last I hear about that! Also Coal has been on 5mg every other day for over a month now. She gets checked again on the 10th. Could this be a calm pond at the end of the raging rapids? What would we dose her down to next? Ahhhh always anxious!
XOXO Amy & Coal
Play ultra cautious & go for 2.5 every other day, or stop it altogether – how do you feel? As she doesn’t have a second immunosuppressant, I think I would be inclined to play the cautious card – you know me – I don’t like to create even a ripple! See what everyone else thinks.
Hope your eye surgery recovery is going well – goodness, you never said!
Ooooh, puppies – photos please! We LOVE puppies.
Love, hugs & calm water

First let me say I have had major trouble getting on this site for days now. It just won’t open so if it is not against some rule I would like to give my e-mail address so you can get ahold of me for whatever reason. Let me know if that is ok.
I didn’t mention the eye because it was elective surgery to correct my vision. Nothing serious or I would have said something.
Coal goes tomorrow for her blood work at noon. I will update as soon as I know her numbers.
One of my puppy choices did not make it. She was very tiny and only lived 24 hours. So that made choosing easy as we only had 2 girls to choose from since the other 3 are white and I can not deal with a white dog. BTDT! Such is life!
We are off to New Hampshire for a 4 day vacation on Sunday so if I am missing that is why. We will be back on Wed. night.
We are off to the swimming pool!
Love and wet shakes,
Amy & Coal
