I am going to put her back on a fully raw diet I suppose. She is still snubbing her food. Mind you it is not just dry kibble in a bowl it has bone marrow broth and fermented veggies as well as goats milk, fish oil and Nupro which is a supplement. So today she got a bowl full of left overs a raw egg and the other things listed above with out the kibble and it disappeared. TOTAL BRAT!!! All of her blood work looked perfect 47 on her RCV and they did a full blood panel as well as a tick test and heart worm test just to be on the safe side. Everything was good. They said some dogs go off food when its hot and BOY IS IT HOT! But we live in an air-conditioned home so that isn’t it. She is just a spoiled brat. Thanks for the love and support
Always,
Amy & Miss Picky Pants
Sounds like she needs the ” A La Carte” Gourmet restaurant choice to me!
How many times have I looked like A TOTAL FRAUD at the vets worrying over Worzel? You’ll probably never catch me up. It’s amazing how on the day of the appointment or the day after, they are suddenly fine. Aaaagh! But I don’t care – missing something would be 100 times worse & I would never forgive myself. Seeing a blood test puts my mind at ease & our local vets completely understand this feeling. I bet your vets are the same.
My two go off food when it’s hot. No-one ate much lunch today. I also vary their food as they do seem to go off things – probably spoilt brats too! In fact, drop the probably.
Seriously, I’m relieved to hear all is well. That is a great PCV & Miss Picky Pants deserves a bit of spoiling after going through this awful damn disease.

Oh this is wonderful to hear that the BRAT is all good again.
Yes, we all have those stories like when you carry Bingo to the specialists because he’s lame and after feeling nothing they take him out the back to check his PCV and bring him back and he RUNS out. I think my vet/specialist is very good at not “rolling” their eyes out loud whenever I ring them in a panic.

UGH! These Dang Dogs!!!! Coal has had diarrhea since Thursday night. I mean just water pouring out her back side! I have tried everything! She was put on Metronidazole 250mg 2xs a day for 5 days! Of course this RIGHT BEFORE HER SPAY! WHY?????? I hope this medication is safe for her. I am a hot mess right now! If this medication is no good can someone please give me a heads up. I am cooking for her but its not stopping the flood so the meds were necessary. :(
Hi Amy,
Well, I know Bingo was on Metronidazole at the very very beginning, but I’m told by his specialist that can’t be on it again. It can cause neurological side effects and Bingo has had seizures in the past. Side effects also show a few cases of bone marrow necrosis, pancytopenia. I’m getting this from the glossary items AIHA Terms at the top:

There is a product called Tylan Powder which is great for our dogs. There’s a link here
https://www.secondchanceaihadogs.com/medication-resources/
scroll down the page and click on the bottle of Tylan. This is really good stuff to have on hand and you can get it through Amazon. If you do order some, make sure you get some empty capsules as well as you’ll need to fill them to use it. It apparently has the most fowl taste and if the dog gets a whiff of it, you have high hopes of ever getting the dog to take it again.

I called the Vet. They said they checked and it was ok. It has stopped the diarrhea. Thanks goodness! I am nervous. :( Friday she goes for her spay and hernia repair. She has had a hernia since birth. so that will be closed during her spay. EEEEKKKK! We are still waiting for results from her fecal labs. YUCK!
The river has many rapids this week! Having on for dear life! I did put on my life vest just in case you were wondering.

Hi Amy
Wishing you a ripple-free ride through the surgery & the blood work/fecal tests are all normal so you can go ahead as planned. Any doubts, delay the surgery if you need to – no big deal. Hope you don’t have to though.
Like Vally, I am a huge Tylan fan too – it’s much safer than metronidazole for any dog with neuro issues for sure, but metronidazole is absolutely OK (better short term) for most dogs. Worth getting some Tylan in for future use? Oh yes! It is always in my doggie cupboard.
You know, it’s Sod’s Law (whoever he was and I don’t like the bloke!) that these things happen at the wrong time. We worry more than everyone else does too. Well I certainly do.
Let us know how Coal’s results turn out – thinking of you & Coal in your river boat!

Ok so the poop test were all negative. SIGH! That is a good thing. The surgery is on for tomorrow. I am so nervous. The last time I dropped off a dog for surgery she died. :( I can’t lose this sweet girl my heart will break into a million pieces. The vet feels confident that her G.I. issues are not an issue for the surgery as she was acting normal and the symptoms have been helped by the meds. So its onward we go! She will go in tomorrow at 7:30 am. I will keep you all up to date as soon as I know something.
Still wearing my life vest!
