- Better news….
Inevitably, we get more than our fair share of sadness and anguish on this page – so here is a more positive story.
Today, I could finally bear to take Shona with me on a longer hike….. so far, it has been too painful because of memories of last summer, so I have been hiking alone. But today I thought, the time has come to take Shona too….. I still think of Honey every minute, of course, but that sadness is tempered by the need to engage with Shona. Lots of running around…… she is now tired! So perhaps she will refrain from taking my slippers, chewing magazines, and diving into the garden pond….. at least for a little while.
Dora couldn’t go – I was going to walk for longer than she would have managed (she is getting on a bit now) – so there was a happy reunion when we returned.
In short: Shona has fitted right in to our human/dog/horse family!
Shona? Tired enough not to destroy stuff? Dream on Lynda! Seriously, I think it’s great that you have given her the most wonderful home possible. Sometimes, they come to us for a very good reason – they are never “replacements” of course. And too many need rehoming, sadly. You two are a pair of big softies for animals – my favourite kind of people! So glad she’s settled in well & what’s a couple of pairs of slippers between friends anyway?
Love to you all & thanks for sharing the happy news

Yeah, well, I can dream…..
I doubt she is too tired to roll in sticky, gloopy mud, preferably with a good dose of fox poo …… her favourite. We bought her a plastic pool for the garden so she can wash it off….
Slippers we can perhaps ignore, but Eau de Fox definitely does come between friends… especially of the human kind!
Lynda,
the dog trainers name from Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind that came to my house about 10 years ago, was Shona:) She taught me to train the guide puppies. She is a lovely lady from Britain! Your Shona does sound like a lovely dog and I am so happy you found her.
Best wishes,
Brigitte
Ashki’s favorite is eau de deer poo and eau de dead fish – ugh. So happy you’re hiking with Shona. I understand — I never did take Ashki up to the creek in the mountains where I took my Sierra before she died.

Hi Lynda
Great news that Shona has been out on a hike and you managed to tire her out, for a little while anyway! Speaking of Eau de Dead Fish – I have goldfish in the pond, one of whom has now been caught FOUR times by the cats and is still going. I have named it Phoenix. Time to replace the net over the pond, perhaps. Shona would love it!

Awe Lynda – a ray of sunshine – so nice to read (even with the poo). What is it with these pooches – the stinkier the better!!!
I am so glad you and Shona had a nice walk. And that Dora so appreciated your return. And your wonderful Honey – she’ll live forever in your heart(s). Smile.
Love to you all, Linda and Sadie
