Hi everyone!
Monday February 17th we rushed our American Bully to the vet hospital, he had been urinating blood for two days, as well as diarrhea with blood. He was lethargic and out of breath when I decided it was time to get him to see a vet. 6 hours later, countless tests, and xrays they diagnosed him with IMHA, and his Red blood count was at 24. They discussed that if it dropped any further we would need to euthanize. We started him on predisone and 5 other meds immediately, and they wanted to hospitalize him. We decided to bring him home, as he is a very anxious dog (rescue from an abusive past) and has a severe attachment to my husband. I started researching everything immediately and stumbled across forums and research articles discussing Chlorophyll, I immediately went to the the health food store and bought a bottle, I gave him half a teaspoon with water in a syringe and forced him to take it. He seemed more lethargic as the day went on and the meds kicked in. He’s a tough boy and a fighter, just a beautiful 7 year old boy. We took him to the vet across the street the next day, where his blood count had dropped to 20, and they discussed if it dropped anymore he would need to be put down. We had an appt scheduled for the next day again to recheck his blood, and it had dropped to 17 now, but his baby red blood cell production was up 1/2%. The vet wanted to put him down, but I said no this to me is enough of a sign that he’s trying to fight, let’s take him home and come back Friday. Little by litttle he seemed more energetic, I was feeding him bowls of ground beef and bacon together, which he was loving along with 2 times a day 1/2 teaspoon of chlorophyll, which we upped to 1 teaspoon twice a day. Friday came and my husband took him in and his blood count had jumped up to 21 now!!!! Wow we were amazed between the crying and the prayers I couldn’t be happier!! We scheduled him for another blood check for today, Saturday, and his blood levels have gone up to 22, his hemoglobin is up, and his white blood cells have diminished quite a bit. So this is alll extremely positive news!!! I have another checkup on Wednesday next week, and switching some medications Monday due to him bloating. He’s tired, but able to walk, and he’s been eating and drinking and starting to give his kisses again. I do think the Chlorophyll immediately has helped immensely, and I’m praying just as hard that he still pulls through. Today is the 6th day of medications, but things are looking up for my little fuzz butt.
