AIHA terms

Ha ha Brigitte, you crack me up that you just found it! I actually had this in mind almost as soon as I put up the website. In fact, when I was in grammar school I remember I had a deep fascination with glossaries and would study them in detail.

I found this great company that provides the Tool Tip glossary. Dave gives us great customer service and has helped me solve a few problems already. I am also very proud to say that CM Plugins Tool Tip has a link to our website, this was our first link:

If you look to your right when you are in the main forum page you will see 5 selected Tool Tip glossary items that rotate every time you refresh the page (not when you are in the topic page.) The Tool Tip doesn’t work “inside” the forum posts, unfortunately, and that has nothing to do with Tool Tip but rather bbPress would have to write some code to make it work. Another thing on my list. But you can refer people posting in the forum to glossary items.

There are other goodies in the Tool Tip I haven’t explored yet, such as Google Translate API and Merriam-Webster Dictionary and Merriam-Webster Thesaurus. Stuff to play with in the future.

This really takes the load off of us when we are writing to dog owners, we don’t need to write out long explanations of terms, we can just post a link. When you hover over a highlighted word you get a shortened version of the term (about 350 characters.) Clicking on the “term details” will take you to the full explanation.

This week Dave is working on setting up the glossary page so we can have those shorted versions of each term on the glossary page. I think it will make it easier to browse the whole glossary.
