- Split: AIHA vs. Molly
Hi Mary and Mable. I was at the vet on Thursday for Sadie’s weekly PCV (48 again, wonderful!!!) AND Dr. Reyes came out and told me of a cat that came in very sick with a PCV of 5. She immediately referred the cat to Blue Pearl here. There are also several others in the US – all of which have great reputations and notorious for their sub-specialist in veterinary medicine.
The cat (I wish I knew her name, will find out) was given a transfusion and I am so happy to announce she is doing well, responding to treatment. I was very proud of Dr. Reyes to refer her and act so fast, which definitely saved this cats life.
I may not be able to this week (we have family coming in) but very soon, I will go by Blue Pearl and talk with them. I am wondering if they would be interested in our forum, to send their AIHA fur parents for information, guidance AND hand-holding. I will take my iPad and show them the site and our stories, particularly, Molly’s story.
I will keep you all posted on this little, not so lucky, but yet very lucky kitty’s progress as I find out. Perhaps my vet will give the fur parent my information and she can get involved. As you say, finding information about dog AIHA is difficult enough, but for cats, it’s even harder.
I hope you and Mable are doing well. Our love,
Linda & Sadie
Mary – Molly was so very beautiful & Mable is a real cute girl too. Thank you for sharing their lovely photos.
Linda – Sadie is just the best girl! PCV 48 again – YEAH. I think it’s a fantastic idea to speak to Blue Pearl & I am crossing everything for the cat to make a great recovery. Anyone who needs help will always be welcome here. We all know what a terrible place the world can seem when dealing with IMHA/AIHA.
Love to all from all of us.
Yes Linda. You have a vet who is one of the special ones I think.
Love Vally and Bingo.
Hi all. I’m sorry that the thread got messed up! I think it was my fault messing about with photos and trying to get them to sit right. I am very interested to hear about the little cat with the PCV of 5% and am so pleased to hear that he/she is doing well. I will keep everything crossed for a continued recovery, and would love to hear updates. It would also be great if your vets would be happy to direct people here. I’m delighted to hear that Sadie is holding her own and keeping that haematocrit where it should be! Keep up the good work, Sadie!
M & M xx
Mary,
This is nothing you have done! This is an idiosyncrasy that occurs once in a while. The bbPress forum moderators know about it, but have been unable to accurately reproduce it when they try to troubleshoot it. I can fix the order by hand when I need to, if it really messes up the flow of the thread.
my best, patrice
