Dosage: Approximately 0.25 to 0.5 mg per pound (0.5 to 1.0 mg/kg) every 12 to 24 hours, given APART from other medications as it may prevent their proper absorption. 2 hours before or 2 hours after other medications is the recommended way. It should not be given with food as it’s effectiveness would be reduced.
Possible interactions with other drugs include: Digoxin, Ketoconazole, Metoclopramide, Antacids, Sucralfate. Famotidine can cause a further reduction in WBC (white blood cell count) if given with azathioprine. ALWAYS ask your vet for advice.
